I want to report this Company for unpaid overtime and racism and not paying employee's by law. There has been alot of things going on with this company that some employee's noticed but does not want to report it, so I feel I should say something and something should be done about it. Such as, by law a if company that pays its mechanics on a flat rate, and if the mechanic provide their own tools the are suppose to get paid minimum wage times 2, which is $16.00 an hour, but if the company provides than they can pay them less. There are 3 mechanics being ripped and they do not see it. Another thing which is a major thing for me, is unpaid hours and overtime.
Mountain view Chevrolet pay period ends every 15 and 31st, 30th or 29th depending on the month and the company pays each employee on the 5th and 20th of each month. So each pay period begins on the 1st and 16th and I have noticed so far this year all my hours are 80 in one pay period starting on the second pay period. On the months with 31 days it is not being reported, so its like I worked a whole day free without pay. And there were a few times I worked one hour overtime and didn't get paid for it, and when I asked the lady that writes our checks and adds up our hours about it, I was told in order to get paid for overtime I have to get it approved first by my Manager, I don't know if thats legal or not. But it don't seem right to me.
Racism is another thing, the service manager is racist against the Latin culture, as there are only four of us left. 3 other mechanics quit because of his racism. Well I cant really prove it over the internet but I can describe whats going on, the service manager watches everything we do, like a few times other employees park their cars in the shop area and nothing is said, and I do the same thing, and he goes off on me, telling me to park my car on the street, this has happened to only the 4 of us. So the manager makes a rule that the mechanics cant work on their cars unless they have a written repair sheet for certain things such as an oil change. But if its more than that, we cant work on our cars. But I needed to put new tires on my car, and the manager once again goes off on me and tells me to take my car out of the shop.
And another mechanic who brings his weekend non street legal classic drag racing car who is white, is allowed to install a fuel line that gives the car maximum boost (Nitrous system) so he can race it on the weekend. Without a written repair sheet.
And other things as well there is so many other things.
But these are the 3 main things about this company.
