Ok, so let me say... That if you scroll to the bottom of volkswagon reports... I am the same person that reported the "sunroof implosion"..interesting story if you have not read. I am trying to grasp onto which part of vw is not despicable! I have not had one pleasant experience with any part of vw dealerships, vw of america, vw credit, road side assistance, etc...
So, i will begin by telling you that my lease was up in 07 and i am still dealing with harassment from vw.
I leased the vehicle in 2003 but was upside down on my trade in. Therefore my payments were high. $499/mo. For a jetta. Ridiculous! However, i made every payment all the way to the end of the four year lease. I was ready to wash my hands of this company by the end and i still cannot get their disgusting presence to go away!
If you read my prior report, you will notice that the car was basically a lemon, unsafe, customer service sucked and vw of america does not care about their customers.
Here's my history in a nutshell... Otherwise it would be a book!
2003 - visited momentum vw - salesman unprofessional could care less about selling us a car. So, we left. Went to vw clear lake - leased a vw jetta.
2003 - oddities began happening immediately with the car (everything began breaking even if never used by me). Radio, console, back door, trunk, glove box, engine light, seat heater, even more... Then eventually the infamous sunroof implosion while i was driving that i have a police report for, etc... Long story... Read the other report below for info. Basically very dangerous situation that vw would not take blame for nor cover under warranty - first vw said outside source hit the sunroof then they said inside source hit the sunroof - never even saw the sunroof and wanted $2000 to repair. Dealership, police, tow drive, my friends/family saw the sunroof, giant gaping hole in sunroof with outer edges of glass pointing in upper direction - police said implosion - basically the sunroof imploded while i was driving - very scary - very dangerous - glass all over me! Vw didn't care only wanted my money - should have sued!
Following year after purchasing vehicle... Received letter from police department that i owed a very large sum of money because my car that i had traded in to vw clearlake a year prior had been impounded. Vw never transferred title... And i had to deal with the mess. Can they do anything correctly?
Vw momentum: poor sales, bad customer service - received free maintenace because of, witnessed a service manager wreck customers car in parking lot, after maintenance drove off lot with check engine light on, 3 attemps at repairing seat heater recall - never could fix.
Vw archer: took car in b/c rear lights would not turn off, sat for two hours waiting for repairs - when finished they told me to watch rear lights were working while he hit brakes - did not work; asked me to wait longer; incapable of making repairs. When turning in car at end of lease - sat in office with salesperson while he took sales call and never acknowledged me - he went to write my mileage on paper and returned with wrong mileage over 20,000 difference then crossed through with pen and wrote new mileage once i informed him = i had to ask for his initials. I had just spent a large sum of money having the car detailed and returned to a near perfect condtion so that they did not try to screw me on this also.
Come to find out the car sat in their lot for months... They were supposed to report to vw that the car had been returned... Did not report it... Sold the car to auction... And then had someone inspect the car for cleanliness and damage to see if i owed vw anything! I was informed the car would be inspected the weekend i returned it - instead it was months after sitting outside, probably driven by employees, pulled by a diesel and taken to auction.
Vw clear lake: unable to transfer title of trade-ins properly, did not inform of appraisal taxes (explained below), incapable of repairing seat heater recall four times, took to repair seat heater said they fixed, drove off lot and noticed seat heater wires hanging from dashboard and cover missing, when obtaining car after sunroof incident - service dept. Damaged console while viewing sunroof.
Vw credit: in october; almost three years into the lease; i received an invoice for $1200 - i called vw credit and they said that they had mailed me an affidavit on appraisal taxes and that i needed to sign it and have it notarized. I had received mail from vw - but it was usually junk - i knew what an invoice looked like and threw away the rest of their mail. Finally i received the affidavit and drove 30 miles to have my mothers friend notarize the document and she then gave it to my mother with the rest of my paperwork and my mother drove to the post office to mail all of the documents at the post office. I did not tell her and did not feel that i needed to purchase proof of receipt and signature.
I received my next invoice and the $1200 remained on there. I though they had just not made the adjustments... After about two months. I called them again... And they said that they never received the affidavit and wanted to see my proof of mailing it. Of course i did not have that because i did not think i would need it. When asked what the affidavit was for... Supposedly the county charges taxes to vw... Vw has to pay county taxes if the vehicle is used primarly for business use - i don't use it primarily for business use so i signed the affidavit... Vw paid the taxes and then attempted to charge me but failed to charge me until almost three years into the vehicle and the realized it... And said oh sh... We forgot to charge her... So, let's charge her now... Lose her affidavit when it arrives... And make her have to pay.
So, finally, i called my husband's aunt and asked her to meet me for dinner with her notary stamp and had her notarize the document. Second notary. The first one i purchased a nice gift for because she notarized it for me. I bought my aunt's dinner for notarizing it this time. I kept the paperwork, wrote a letter explaining their confusion, sending all invoices pointing out how they were late in informing me of these costs, a letter from the first notary stating that she notarized and mailed the other affidavit and a lot of other documents to back that. Purchased a receipt proof of mailing at the post office and placed all documents and receipt in my huge stack of filing.
Still receiving large invoice... Called and spoke to customer service dozens of time... Argued... And they stood firm on never receiving the documents again for months and months this went on...
Eventually... I got to my filing and handed my husband the post office receipt for his files because he has business dealings on ebay and uses this... He looked at date... And tossed it in trash... Just so happened it was my receipt for vw... And once i searched for my vw receipt to prove to them... Realized what my husband had tossed months prior.
But, i had proof by documents mailed, copies, my aunt being a witness, etc...
Why would i have two different notarys notarize a documents, me prepared all of this paperwork, make dozens of calls to vw about it, write dozens of letters to vw credit and frank witter, president of vw and then just never mail the affidavits...
But, because i do not have proof, a paper receipt, proving it... They claim to have never received the affidavit for a second time and continued to tell me that i owe them the $. I guess it will take my sworn testament in court.
So, upon returning the leased vehicle, dozens and dozens of calls with vw credit, letters, faxes to the president, arguments, and a settlement offer from vw credit to take 30% off of the tax cost, threats of a lien (which by the way, my county office said is against the law because a lien cannot be placed against me since i am not the owner of the vehicle and that basically this is an illegal threat against me)... I am not settling and paying anything. I do not owe anything to volkswagon and refuse to pay another $ to them. I did not use the vehicle for business primarly. I sent the affidavit notarized. Twice. I sent letters to follow, faxes to follow, called corporate, have many reference numbers as proof, letters to frank witter with fax cover sheets... I'm not paying vw for something that stupidly paid and want their meesly $1000 for.
Can you believe a corporation as huge as vw is fighting mad for $1000? Sickening and gross!
Eventually vw went away, stopped calling and so i thought, good they realized they wrong or they found my paperwork or they decided how stupid they are or that $1000 was just not worth it - i mean can you say desperate!
So, it's 2008. I returned the vehicle in february. At the end of i faced lots of serious health procedures. Lots of expenses involved. I have expensive private health insurance. I have the medical bills flowing in and i am being very organized in sorting insurance benefit statements, insurance invoices, cardiologist invoices, pathology invoices, hospital invoices, ct scan invoices, gyn.invoices, oncologist invoices, cancer institute invoices, emergency room invoices and trying to figure out a plan in getting everyone of the legitimate costs paid for.
Extremely stressful!
So, one day i received my mail and received a letter from an attorney, opened it and nearly vomited in my mouth at the grossness of who else but vw!!!
I called them. I spoke to brandon with the law office - he is the manager in the collection department. He reviewed the file and stated that he could see in the notes where they had received my paperwork... And he could see that it was not payment for the car... That the car had been fully paid for in lease payments... But this was for some ridiculous county taxes that i did not owe to begin with... Brandon said, "looks like vw made a mistake... They said have documents from you..." i think this is mistake... You need to call them"
I explained to brandon, vw's process... How it is impossible to speak to a supervisor... Blah, blah, blah... This is so freaking old!
I called vw... Requested a supervisor... Got transferred 8 times, was asked to explain my situation (like it's one situation) to every customer service representative and was told i was finally transferred to a supervisor... He said..."oh, i can't talk to you this has been sent to our attorney."
I said, "no john... I just spoke to the attorneys office and they said it's a mistake and that i need to call vw and ask to speak to a supervisor" he placed me on hold for 15 minutes returned to me, harrassed me, told me i never sent vw any documents, that i owe them the money, that i refused a settlement with them and that i need to send him all the documents that i have of proof by fax.
I told him that i have legitimate expenses in my life right now that i will be paying and they are fraudulent that i do not owe them anything.
He was very loud, mean, harrassing and rude! Then i said to him..."john, just so you know, i just recorded our telephone coversation"
Silence.
He then said, "that's illegal without my consent."
"no john, not in the state of texas."
He hung up and they continue to call a cell phone number that i no longer own.
That's fine. They can attempt to sue me for the $1000 that they are fraudulently attempting to get.
How silly that i may have to arrive in court one day with all this paperwork, notarized affidavits, reference number notes, customer service names and notes, letters to vw, my notary public witnesses and swear under oath of my situation for $1,000, and oh, all the letters to frank witter with facsimile transmittal reports that i sent to him. The stories of my vw experience and not one response from the corporate office!
They don't care they just want you money and the money that you don't even owe them!
Frank witter - you are a giant jacka* - and you run your german corporation just like hitler!
Get a freaking life and stop bullying people who legitimately live their lives!
