This report is on the MCLS auto dealer in Orland Hills, Illinois. They have 2 more stores as well, one in Westmont, and one in Burbank I beleive. But personally if you want to avoid hassel and aggrevation, stay away from all of them. I have reported them to the BBB, and I hope to educate anyone who wishes to do business with them about their sales practices, so you can avoid the aggrevation that I have endured.
In March I found a beautiful 2004 Sonic Blue Ford Lightning. It had just under 28,000 miles, and the interior and exterior were in great condition. They only wanted $22,900 for it as well. The car fax came out clean as well. So I test drove it and loved it. I had to come back with my trade in and could not make it back that day, because it is an hour both ways in good traffic.
So the salesman asked what I wanted to do, and I said I wanted to place a deposit on the truck, he aked how much. I said how much would it take to hold the truck. He said $500, so I gave him my credit card and he completed the transaction. I said I would be back on the weekend with my trade in.
So on Saturday, I called and told them I was on my way, and the salesman said that they just sold the truck. I said how is that possible when I placed a deposit on the truck!? He said that the deposit didn't hold the truck, it only held the price of the truck. I said that is not what your salesman told me. He apologized and said that the salesman shouldn't have said that, he was just being aggresive and trying to close the deal.
So bottom line is I got screwed out of a great truck because of the greedy practices of this dealership. I should have known better than to deal with a whole saler, In my opinion they are all crooks. He said they would give me my deosit back, and I asked him to comp me $20 in fuel costs to make up for what they did. He said he did not feel that he owed me any compensation, even though what they did is illegal in Illinois. But the problem is, I would have to file a lawsuit and hire an attorney, and pay court fees just to get the truck back, and god only knows how long that would take. I could end up paying several thousand dollars just to get the truck back.
