First Class Cars
Rip off, false promises, broken verbal contracts utah

Last year i found myself in a situation where i had no transportation to get to work. I had no credit and i was desperate to get a new car. I went to first class cars because they made a promise to finance anyone.

I put 750 dollars down on a volkswagen cabriolet. With finance charges, i still owed around 4000 dollars. I agreed to pay 150 dollars every 2 weeks. This was all a huge rip off since the car was only worth 1800 all together.

When i was deciding if i should purchase the vehicle, a sales man reassured me that if i found myself in a position where i couldn't make the payments anymore, i could return the vehicle to the dealer. And as long as i was willing to forefit all previous payments, i would have no further obligations to the company.

My roomate was with me and witnessed this verbal agreement.
After making payments on time every 2 weeks for 6 months, i had some financial trouble and was advised by my roommate to take the car back in. I called the company to make sure they would hold to their promise, and was assured there was no problem.

I brought the car in, and, again, asked the salesman if i would owe anything if i returned the vehicle. He said that if i made one final payment that day, than there is no way they could come after me for any more money. They said that they would sale the vehicle in auction.
I didn't hear from them again for about 3 or 4 months, when i recieved a letter from a lawyer, claiming i owed over 2000 dollars. I responded to this letter explaining my position.

I didn't hear anything again until a court sent me a letter saying they had filed papers against me. I sent the court a letter stating my position.
The next letter i recieved was a motion for judgement. They now want another 3500 dollars from me. The car was only worth 1800. I payed over 2200 before i brought it back. They sold it in auction for 800 dollars. And now, they want 3500 more. All together, that's 6500 dollars they will make off the deal. Almost 4 times what the car was worth. And in the end i won't have anything to show for it.

I feel so stupid for falling for it. They were so forceful when i was buying the car. I should have been more careful. I was desperate at the time, and they took advantage of that.

Stay away from this business!!! They are dishonest!!! I don't know how i'm going to get back on top without filing bankruptcy. I'm never going to be so stupid again!
