VW Sells Lemons Cares Nothing About Consumer Once Purchase is made 10 mo. Old car with major defects

I bought my 2001 Jetta in November in good faith and with the excitement of buying my first VW. Since that time I have had nothing but difficulties with the automobile and the dealer representing VW. I am very dissatisfied with VW's assistance to my problem.

However this car has had numerous problems since the purchase.

On August 26th my vehicle's radio stopped working. I contacted the Russell VW dealership in Baltimore Md. And made an appointment for August 30th.

On August 29th while driving my children to school, the vehicle's emergency lights came on and the car started shaking and smoking. Russell VW had my vehicle towed to their shop, told me it had defective coils and replaced them and the radio/stereo. I received my vehicle back on Friday, August 30.
The vehicle ran satisfactorily for 30 minutes before one speaker blew out and the car started to hesitate.

On Tuesday, September 3rd, the temperature gauge stopped working and the temperature light came on. I returned the car to the dealership that day. The dealership replaced the temperature gauge and I believe they installed another coil. Further, they told me that their mechanic needed to drive the vehicle home because he couldn't locate the problem but could feel the engine hesitation.

On Friday, September 6th, Russel customer service informed me that they now believed that the car has a faulty transmission that would need to be replaced. The transmission is on backorder in Germany?

I have little confidence in the reliability and future serviceability of this vehicle. I believe this car is a lemon and should be replaced before my family is put in danger. I was, however, willing to accept an extension of the warranty to insure that I would have a reasonable period of time to enjoy what I paid for.

The response I received from VW Customer Advocate was that VW would not repair the vehicle beyond the warranty. He also tried to tell me that the warranty was not valid. This is absurd since this a 2001 automobile with only 27K miles. I have held up my part of the warranty and have all my service records for oil changes and my 10K, 15K and 20K service checkups.

How can an answer like this be given from VW when Mr. Bruce Mattice did not even know the current status of my vehicle?

As I told Bruce Mattice, my VW Jetta has failed to perform. I drive over 100 miles a day back and forth to work and my warranty will be over soon. My Jetta has required more new parts in its first year then any other car I have owned. Mr. Mattice told me that these problems are not normal for a new Jetta but he wouldn't consider assisting me unless I didn't have the car for over a month. Mr. Mattice told me VW would not give me an extended warranty or replace my vehicle.

My vehicle is seriously defective and unreliable for a new Jetta purchased November.

Both VW and its dealership have poorly treated me
