My husband and I went by Mossy Nissan to get an idea of prices and cars in our range. We began speaking with a salesman named Miguel who asked us if we would like to test drive a car. We quickly explained that we were not interested in buying a car that day because our credit was still new (good credit, but under 2 years history) and we wanted to wait about 6 months more, so that we could qualify for a decent interest rate. We were also getting ready for a move and did not have any parking available.
Miguel told us that he would be happy to help us out by giving us an idea of what we would qualify for. So we trusted him and went in to fill out a credit application. We gave him all of our information, complete, correct, we were very specific and honest. He processed the info and came back with a big smile "Good News" he said. We would definately qualify for 13 or so percent interest. We said thanks but no thanks... We will wait until we qualify for a decent interest rate. He then said, oh well let me just double check with another company. He than came back and said that he could definately offer us 11% interest and a great deal on a car. The car was a good deal (as far as we know). We knew that this was pretty good for our new credit so we decided to go for it (we trusted him) bad choice. The deal went through (we thought) and then happily left with our new, used car.
About 4 or 5 days later the finance department called us and stated that the financing "fell through" and explained to us that they did not actually finance, it was an outside party. This should have been explained to us from the beginning. It was not even touched on, but this is only the beginning. They explained that we would have to come back with certain documents, which was no problem. They stated that our rate would now be 14.99%... This was bad. And the 3 days had passed (cooling off period), so we knew that we could not return the car.
We were very upset but somehow decided to go ahead with it since we really liked the car. So we went back to the dealership with all of the paperwork they requested. The man who manipulated and lied us into this purchase was there, he walked by us 3 times (looking away from us) and acting as though he did not recognize us. We waited about 20 minutes and then the manager came to tell us that our paperwork was not sufficent. It was EXACTLY the same as the application, and I can prove it. He then stated with a smile that we could only get a 19.99% interest rate!
This is so unbelievable, they sucked us in and chewed us up with absolutely no remorse. Now we are stuck with a car that we will be paying an extra 4,000 in interest on, just because this guy wanted to make a few extra bucks. He lied to our faces and than acted like he didn't know who we were. I have filed a complaint with the better buisness bureau and I am looking at filing one with the state attorney's office. I don't know what else to do.
We are a young family, just starting out, they probably pushed back our plans to start a family another year or two with his selfish act, we will have to pay so much more than we budgeted and it really screws up our plans. If anyone has any advice or suggestions please contact me, we need help. We plan to pursue this matter as far as we can. Please exuse the grammar, spelling, punctuation, I wrote this quickly and I have a lot of anger.
