Complaint / review text:
I leased a vehicle from GMAC in 1999. Turned it in early (two months) via one of their early termination/no penalty sales. Purchased another vehicle using different financing. Everything goes well - or so I think! I obtain a copy of my free anual credit report as I have done for the past several years and guess what I see??? GMAC has suddenly changed the way they are reporting my lease status. For the past 4 1/2 years, it was reported correctly as paid in full/paid as agreed. As of January 2007, they update the account noting that I am "one payment" delinquent.
I contact GMAC/Sitel Corporation and speak with this foreign lady who doesn't speak English all that well. After finally making her understand what has transpired, she asks me to fax her the copies of my previous credit reports to correct their mistake. I do this at our local library at a cost of $10 because it is a long distance fax. I call back the next week to verify receipt and that they are adjusting my credit report and this lady doesn't exist. Her name has changed (surprise surprise).
I tell the next lady my situation and she says to fax again - so I do. I call her back and she says she didn't receive it! She wants me to fax again. I have already invested $20 for both faxes. I explain that now I am angry and I want them to stop toying with me. She gets beligerent with me and I hang up on her.
Sitel Corp proceeds to call my home telephone number several times each day, sometimes leaving messages, sometimes not. They are on my caller i. D. 10 times in 5 days!!! I am completely fed up with these apes!!!
Meanwhile, my credit suffers because of their unethical collection standards. I also tried disputing this with the 3 major credit reporting agencies, but each time, they say that GMAC/Sitel Corporation has reported this correctly. What do I do now besides obtain a lawyer, which I cannot afford? I have changed my phone number and the calls have obviously stopped, but my credit suffers at the hand of ignorant people!
