On May 18 I purchased a remanufactured transmission on ebay using the buy it now feature. I was instructed to call them before making payment to "varify that I was going to get the correct item." I did as instructed and they insisted that I make payment over the phone along with an additional "Core Deposit Fee". When I inquired about that, I was told that it was a standard fee which is returned to me as soon as they recieve my old transmission. I reluctantly agreed after a second reassurance that I would get my core fee back as soon as they receive my old transmission. Well that was the last I saw of my transmission and my money.
At first I was told by Shiela that I didn't get my $350 core deposit back because they needed the signed warranty paperwork that was shipped with my remanufactured transmission and delivered to the Cadillac Dealer who did the work. I inquired to my dealer's service manager (who happens to be my brother-in-law) if they know about this paperwork. He knew exactly what they were talking about and reported that they made photocopies of everything in my file and that they filled it all out and shipped it back with the core transmission. He even sent me copies to prove it! It was then I realized I was being lied to. They had my paperwork all along!
Since then I have been told the check is in the mail; they are too busy to speak to me; Shiela is not in today; the manager is out to lunch; she's left for the day; and so on. Now, almost 6 months later, they refuse to put my calls through to Shiela nor am I permitted to speak to a manager. I can't get past the switchboard! It's almost a joke at this point and I can almost hear them chuckling on the phone when I call.
I have come to the reality that they never had intentions to return my core deposit. From what I read hear, it seems like standard practice for them. I wish ebay would do something but they dont even have the ability to do anything since it's been dragged out so long that they don't have record of the transaction. This company has a very well thought out scam that there is little defense for. Please don't fall another victim of this company!!
