I requested a quote from GearHead Transmissions for a replacement transmission and installation through one of their "partner installers." I did not find out that they would charge a $250 "core deposit" until after I had agreed to the purchase.
I paid GearHead for 1) the transmission 2) shipping of transmission from GearHead to their chosen installer, 3) a refundable core deposit of $250, and 4) return shipping of the spent core. GearHead requested I pay the installer seperately for labor and I did.
Once the job was done (it took months, as I had agreed since I was in no hurry), GearHead failed to work with their chosen installer and failed to get the core returned as I had already paid them to do. They refused to pay to ship the core back as previously agreed.
I shipped the core back to them and demanded refund of my deposit of $250 plus the redundant shipping cost of $121.65. THEY REFUSED THE SHIPMENT!
