Amex failed to show up for twice

Most unfortunately, I had the displeasure of working with Amex Movers for a local one-bedroom move of furniture.

The movers required an upfront deposit via a credit card and were originally slated to move the furniture on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. At around 10:30 PM, the movers were a no-show so I called the company to ask if and when the movers will arrive to pick up the furniture. An Amex representative took down my name and phone number, and promised to get back to me shortly when he gets more information on the movers' status. He claimed the movers left the company at 7:00 AM to head to my place and will check into their status. However, the representative failed to call back around noon, so I repeatedly called back again receiving only a 'give me your name and number, and we will get back to you' response. The representatives claimed they had no information and will get back to me as soon as they can. Around 2:30 PM, a representative said that they will send another truck to my apartment which will arrive roughly around 5:00 PM. Yet again, this truck failed to materialize and the company called up at 10:10 PM asking if I still want them to come out sometime in the middle of the night or would I rather prefer them to come Monday morning. Given that I work a regular work schedule on weekdays, I prefer not to spend the early morning hours playing yet another waiting game and risking showing up to work exhausted. Furthermore, given that the company failed to show up the entire day they were scheduled to move furniture from my apartment, why would I take a day off from work risking them failing to show up again? I demanded a refund of the deposit money and received a 'we will call you back' response. Poor customer service at it's finest.

The moving company made absolutely no effort to contact me that the 9:00 AM or 5:00 PM movers were going to be late or no shows causing me to waste an entire day in a fully packed apartment wondering if and when they will show. A professional company should provide a courtesy call letting their customers know if there will be a delay in services. Despite their supposedly low prices for a move, the entire experience was a nightmare and an entire day was wasted waiting for two sets of movers that never showed up. Given that a majority of the adult population is either working or attending college on a Monday morning, a 'solution' of offering to move furniture during the late night/early morning hours is bogus given that I will have to babysit and unlock the old and new apartment doors for the movers. Additionally, the so-called 'solution' may not even be viable given the noise ordinances at apartment complexes during night hours. I heavily doubt neighbors will be pleased listening to heavy furniture such as couches get lugged up stairs and set onto the floors (roof for the downstairs neighbors).

Now, I will have to find another moving company to finish the job that Amex failed to show up for twice. If I had researched into Amex's reputation a bit, I would have found that they have an 'F' rating with the Better Business Bureau.
