I recently had a motorcycle go thru Arizona Emissions and it is a bike that is better then factory specs mechanically for the year it was built.in fact I just got it from my father who replaced the spark plugs which really were fine and also had the carb adjusted to run for Arizona. Also the air filter was replaced even though it was relatively clean and also had the timing adjusted to beyond factory specs or better then factory specs.
Tested the bike and it failed the emissions test miserably. They said that it needed to have all the stuff that my father already did done. I informed it had been done and nothing else could be done. I got ticked off and called John Walls Director of Arizona emissions at 602-207-7027 and also sent e-mails to Steven Owens and Nancy Wrona and her assistant as well as the govenor and two state senators asking for help on what to do.
John Walls the director of emissions responded and stated that his mechanics said the bike was using to much fuel that is why it did not pass. I jumped thru Mr. Walls hoops and took my bike to a certified Honda mechanic and he stated that he has never passed a bike or car on his emission machine out of over 3000 units and then had them fail the Arizona test.
I asked could he test it and if it needed something to just do it and then I would re-test it. He tested it on his machine and he stated that the numbers were very much under the Arizona allowed #'s and that there was nothing that he could do to fix my bike because it did not need to be fixed. He said to take it down to the emissions facility down the road from him where they have never had a vehicle fail and I did. My bike failed again there.
I took it back to the mechanic and he stated that My carb was adjusted and all aspects of the bike were perfect and he has been doing this for over 30 years. He said that he refuses to charge me because there is no work that needs to be done. I called John Walls at 602-207-7027 back and stated that my bike passed this test and he basically stated unless it passes the Arizona test I could pound sand.
Now I told the mechanic to adjust the carb screw to make the bike run leaner even though it will not run right just to pass this test then take it back to his shop and adjust it back to where it was so I can just get it registered. What a pain in the butt. I can't change state laws and really there is nothing I can do but make sure these jackass's make the rip off report. I have also notified every news media outlet in the State of Arizona about this story as well.
