Promised rebuild of Transmission for $990. Price continues to rise with no end insight. They want $900 to get out of contract. They sent my vehicle to a shop that refuses to sign an agreement with them. Ripoff

Coast to Coast
Background: Upon having troubles with my transmission in my 1996 AM General Hummer, I began searching the internet to see if there were anything I could do to fix the problem. The problem being that the vehicle would not shift out of 2nd gear.

In this search I found Coast-to-Coast that advertised they would rebuild my transmission for $997 (see exhibit #1). I contacted Curly Brown (1-800-890-3718) at Coast to Coast and was informed that they used local people and would rebuild the transmission for $1,197.00. They faxed me a contract which I completed and faxed back (see exhibit #2). This is where things went astray.

Monday, July 22nd: My 1996 Hummer was taken away to be fixed.
Wednesday, July 25. My account was debited for $47.00 and for $1,150.00.
Friday, July 27th I called Curly Brown (1-800-890-3718) to inquire about my vehicle.
5:41PM - I received a call back from Jeff (1-940-323-0616) and was told they were working on it. I pointed out that their contract stated You are responsible for inspecting the shop and making yourself comfortable. This was impossible to do since they had not informed me as to where they took my vehicle.

I also pointed out that their contract states it is your responsible to let us know before work begins. They had not informed me that work had begun. At this point I was informed that my Hummer was at Paradise Transmission.
Monday, July 30th 9:00 AM - I called Curley Brown (1-800-890-3718) and left a message that I was not happy with the service.
2:45 PM I received a call from Jeff (1-940-323-0616) he stated that they wanted to send the transmission to Texas. I asked what was wrong with the transmission that they couldnt fix it here and how much was this suppose to coast me. He said he would have his supervisor call me.
3:26 PM I received a call from Linzy (1-940-323-0616). I called her back, was put on hold, and dropped.
5:15 PM I called Bank of America and disputed the charge of $1,150.00 on my account (June Roseler 1-877-366-1212 dispute # 3696530Jul07.
Tuesday, July 31,11:45 AM Jeff called (1-940-323-0616) to say that Paradise Transmission would not send the transmission to Texas and would not sign the agreement with Coast-to-Coast.

I asked if this meant they had sent my vehicle to a company that they did not have an agreement with and he said I would need to talk to his supervisor. He then stated that it was up to me to work with Paradise Transmission to get my Hummer fixed.
- Talked to Bob (293-0923) at Paradise Transmission. He stated that it looks like it will cost about $2,500 to get my car back. He has also talked to other shops that have been contacted by Coast-to-Coast and that it was all a scam.
2:37 PM I talked to Linzy (1-940-232-0616) at Coast-to-Coast and was told If I didnt follow thru with the repairs to my Hummer it would coast me $900.00 to get out of the contract. (this appears to be the scam). I asked how much it would cost if they completed the repairs and she said they didnt know. She also said that I need to sign the sales slips and fax it to her. I didnt do either.

CONCLUSION:
(1) My Hummer is at Paradise Transmission on Stock Island.
(2) It looks like Paradise Transmission wants $2,500.
(3) Coast-to-Coast doesnt know how much it is going to coast, but they want $900 to get out of a contract that they dont even follow. They sent my vehicle to a shop that refused to sign their contract. (This should make their contract with me null-and-void)

They also have $1,190 from my account and I have not signed the sales receipts. (I have placed the account in dispute). They want to send my transmission to Texas and Paradise Transmission says they can fix it cheaper, quicker, and probably better.
(4) Paradise Transmission is completing the repairs.
