As I read the postings of people that have been ripped off by Viking Dodge I feel for them.in the early 2000's I purchased a used Pontiac Bonneville SSEi from them to replace a damaged Oldsmobile. The dealership required additional funds up front to get the financing done (I had less than perfect credit at the time) and the interest rate was far too high, but I took the deal anyway. What I found interesting during the closing process was the way the numbers were constantly being hidden and the bottom line was the only thing being presented. I had to literally grab the contract away to be able to review my contract's sales and financing figures. As this was during the day and I had personal items in my Olds it remained in front and I held onto the keys. They finally managed to get the numbers correct and I signed one - and only one contract - even though they asked for a signature on a second document: in case something happened to the first one during processing.
Later that year we found out that they had been convicted of consumer fraud as they would either present two documents and rewrite the second one to reflect much higher numbers or, they would tell the purchaser that they printer was broken and they could sign the blank contract and take the car home that night. Of course the end result were much higher contract numbers.
All of these reports sound like a variation of the original and should be reported to the Illinois Attorney General's Office, Don Manzullo's office and the Better Business Bureau. These avenues offer some chance of getting them busted again or perhap even shut down. I orignally thought the Daily Herald might help, but Viking is a huge advertiser of their's and I do not think they'll offer much assistance.
