Purchased a 1989 GMC truck (gas hog) from Guardian Auto Sales — a Buy Here-Pay Here — in Sept. 2006. At time of purchase, Barry Laskowski (mgr., his dad David owns the place) put a temp registration on the vehicle dated 12//06/06 — ample time (more than 3 months) to get a vehicle registration from the state.
In Oct. received notification from state that vehicle could not be registered because Barry put the wrong weight on vehicle and didn't submit appropriate payment. Took letter to Barry, he said he'd take care of it, re-submit paperwork.
Temp registration ran out on 12/06/06 — STILL did not have registration for truck and could not drive it anymore, as it was not LEGAL.
Made Dec. Payment, but quit paying on truck after it was illegal to drive. Called Barry AT LEAST 15 times, TRYING to get registration for truck. Every time, he said he would "look into it and call me back;" NEVER ONE TIME did he get back to me, or phone ME.
By April — EIGHT MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED TRUCK! STILL did not have a vehicle registration for a truck I was unable to drive for FOUR MONTHS because it had no tag.
Talked to Barry first week of April, AGAIN pleading for a registration. As always, he said he'd get back to me — and DIDN'T. Two weeks later, he came to my home and repossessed the truck, which he says he will re-sell. (This is a scam many BAD auto dealerships pull. They never title the vehicle, never provide registration, so they can sell the same vehicle over and over again.)
I have filed with the PA Atty General's office, the Better Business Bureau (which indicates there has been one complaint, resolved, against Guardian Auto) AND have called Legal Aid, whose lawyer says I definitely have a valid case against Guardian and that if I don't get satisfaction from Consumer Protection (AG's office) to call them back and we will take Guardian to court.
Warning to consumers: DON'T deal with this outfit! They are the most INEPT and UNPROFESSIONAL people on the planet!
