Chesapeake Auto Buyers unresponsive and hard to contact to resolve issues

I saw a vehicle on the Chesapeake Auto Buyers website and contacted the owner Richard Fanzo about purchasing the vehicle in Oct. Of 2007. I met with Mr. Fanzo and decided to go ahead with the purchase because he seemed like a nice enough guy. I received a 60 day temporary registration permit upon the purchase and was told I should receive my permanent registration soon. I had tags I wanted transferred from another vehicle I had donated. Mr. Fanzo said they would take care of the paperwork for the tag transfer. Over the next 2 months, I contacted the MVA several times only to be told there was no registration on file for the vehicle, not even temporary registration. I repeatedly tried to call, email or stop in to see Mr. Fanzo with little success at reaching him. When I did manage to get in contact, and he seemed annoyed to have to speak to me, I was told by Mr. Fanzo that the MVA moves slowly and he had filed the paperwork. The 60 day temp tag expired without the MVA having any paperwork from Chesapeake as I had been told repeatedly, had been filed. I was advised by the MVA to turn in the old tags and pursue new tags with Chesapeake because legally, the car was still theirs. Mr. Fanzo, once I finally got a hold of him, seemed surprised that he was supposed to transfer the tags. I had to show him my copy of the bill of sale to prove it. It took over 2 months to finally get everything resolved. Chesapeake finally sent in the paperwork but changed the sale date to Dec as if the previous 2 months had not existed even though I had the vehicle in my possession.in short, I spent 2 months driving around in an unregistered vehicle.

Be aware that in purchasing from Chesapeake Auto Buyers, you will encounter indifference once they have your money in hand. Communication will be hard to achieve. I personally will never deal with this organization again. Once burned...
