Herzog Meier Auto Center
A service center that can not keep an appointment/can not get their act together

An open letter to Herzog Meier

Dear Mr. Michael J Herzog,

I am writing to you today for several reasons. I have been a customer of Herzog Meier Volkswagen Service since 2001 with my VW New Beetle GLS and have always been quite pleased with the service I have gotten for my vehicle. Recently my experience with Herzog Meier was less than optimal, however.

The service our vehicle received on April 5th-6th was great. The vehicle is running as well now as is was at 9000 miles. The only problem with this is 71000 miles worth of hesitation that could not be diagnosed, ever since 2002. We where told that they found nothing so we just lived with it. We brought our car in last week for a oil change, a break light switch recall, and a spark plug/igniton wire change for a miss-fire problem (fixed the hesitation problem).

The appointment for the above service was scheduled for 10:00 AM. The service center verified the appointment 24 hours before the appointment. The car was dropped off at 9:30 AM after I got out of bed early having worked until 2:00 AM. I was assured by Mr. Dave Simmons of Herzog Meier Service that the car would go into the shop in 30 minutes. Because of the complexity of the service, I told Dave Simmons that I would go home to wait for the service to be completed. Dave Simmons told me that the service may take several hours and they would call with an estimate. I called Herzog Meier VW Service at 3:30 PM to check on the status of my vehicle. I was told that it had not even entered the shop SIX HOURS LATER. I was a bit put off by this and sent an e mail to the Herzog Meier web site, and never received a response.

At 4:30 PM Dave Simmons told me the problem had been located and would require a simple plug change. I gave him the OK and they proceeded with the service. At 5:15 PM Dave Simmons called me back to let me know that they found a miss firing problem that was more complex than originally expected. This problem would require work the following day. I told Dave that this was not going to work for me as I would be working all day Friday and working on call Saturday until Sunday. I told Dave that if the car had gone into the shop as I had been told by Mr. Dave Simmons, the car would have been completed. The service was completed at 8:40 AM Friday, making me late for work and sleep deprived for day two. This all happened for a service that should have only taken FOUR HOURS!

What bothers me the most is being treated by Herzog Meier VW Service like my time was worthless. I work long hours in the peri-operative center of a local hospital. This is not how people are treated for service on their body. This is not how anyone should be treated for any service. I am posting this as an open letter on usacomplaints.com.Com. To warn others that are considering Herzog Meier for any reason.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
