Cottman Transmission
Dishonest ripoffs

Cottman Transmissions of Greensburg Pa is the Biggest ripoff I have ever come in contact with, and they are Still giving us problems.

In March our 99 Dodge Neon was involved in an accident. The transmission was completely destroyed. So, we took it to Cottmans to have it serviced. Well, in early April and $1500 later we reiceved our car back. We were told that the transmission had a 12 month warranty on it.

Approximately 2 weeks later our car was leaking transmission fluid. We took the car in to have the leak fixed. A day later we received our car, with the leak supposedly repaired. We drove the car for awhile and noticed the transmission was once again slipping! (Go figure!) We called Cottman and they said bring it in and we will take a look.

We received a call the same day telling us that the transmission was once again destroyed. We figured no problem, considering it is still under warranty. However, we were suprised to hear that it actually wasn't under warranty because the car had over 12000 miles put on it since the transmission was fixed. Something we were not told when we received the car back. We were ONLY told that the tranmission had a 12 month warranty.

Also, we were told that the reason the transmission was destroyed was because there was a leak and the transmission fluid was low which caused the internal parts to burn up. However, it seems really funny to me that on the receipt for repairing the car, the fluid level was marked as the correct level. So, I ask you, How can the transmission internally burn up from a leak when the transmission fluid was correct???

Well, because of the warranty problem we had to put another $1100 into the car to have it repaired. So, in order for my husband and myself to protect ourselves from this type of problem again, we paid to have an extended warranty put on the transmission of the car. The warranty was for 36 months or 36,000 miles.

So, when we started having problems with the car again the beginning of July this year, we figured OK, not a problem. Guess again!!!

Well, the transmission was having problems shifting once again. We called Cottmans, and they said to bring it in. After they looked at it, they once again told us that the transmission needed repairs. They told us everything would be covered under the warranty, however, they wouldn't have time to repair it until the next Monday. Since the car was still driveable this time, we made arrangements to take the car up Sunday night so they would have it first thing Monday morning.

So, my husband calls Thursday of that week to check on the car. What do you know, the car hasn't even made it into the shop yet! So, my husband asks when will it be getting in? And was told not until next Monday. So, we made arrangements to pick it up and take it back again Sunday night for the following Monday, because we had to have a car.

So, Wednesday of the following week rolls around. My husband calls to check on the car again. You got it! The car still hasn't made it into the shop. Once again he couldn't have it in until the following Monday. And we once again picked it up with the agreement that we needed our car and that it had an APPOINTMENT to be taken in the following Monday.

So, Monday evening my husband calls to check on the car. Of course, it STILL wasn't in. So, by this time I have had it!

Tuesday I called the corporate office and my lawyer. Corporate office did absolutely Nothing, except put us on a three-way call with the manager of the shop. And I was told that my car was in the shop and we would have it by Friday.

Fine I thought. However, it is now Tuesday of the following week and guess what, NO CAR!!! So, my husband put another call into corporate office and had another three-way call with the manager last night. And he was told that we haven't given them enough time considering the car was just drop off last Wednesday!!! Ironic considering I talked to the manager last Tuesday and was told that my car was in the shop already! But, when my husband talked to him he didn't even know our car was there until Wednesday. What a Lair!!!

So, this is where we stand right now, No Car with our lawyer taking action. Also, I am determined to get the word out there that you should never take your car to Cottman Transmissions. Just this morning I put a call into Call 4 Action Channel News.

One last thing, if Micheal of Export reads this, I completley understand where you and your wife are coming from!!! This is the most shaddy business I have EVER come in contact with, EVER!
