Deceptive and manipulative sales tactics Intimidation to buy pressure to buy slight threatening

This happened a couple of years ago. I drive a Hyundai accent of which my mother is the co-signer. I was interested in trading it in for a newer accent, so we went to the aformentioned Hyundai dealership. I went through the motions of applying for such a thing, with my mother to be the co-signer again.

The sales associate who was working with us, informed us that he would have to go and get his "Manager" to speak to us more in depth as it turned out that I owed too much on my car (This was about 3 years into the current financing... Alright, understandable).

So his "Manager" then informs us that we owe too much on the car to trade it in for a newer model. And then proceeds to tell my mother that he could instead cut her a "Deal" on a *second* car in addition to what I currently had. 2 car payments... What?!?

She of course tells him there is No feasible way that we could afford that kind of arrangement... So what does he suggest next? Well, my car had a bit of front end damage, the hood was not as secure as it was supposed to be. Which admittedly, is another reason I just wanted to trade it in, even if that meant having a new financing plan from the beginning again...

He then proceeds to tell both of us something to the tune of "Well Ma'am, tell me this... Wouldn't having 2 car payments per month be alot less than it will cost when you have to Bury your Daughter when the hood of her car flies up and smashes the windshield instantly killing her?" WHAT?!?!?! Needless to say, my mother looked at me and said through gritted teeth "Im Leaving. If you want to stay and talk to this *. Go Right ahead!!!"... We then both left.

This was AWFUL!!! I can only hope that he is not a "Manager" there any longer... I have heard of "agressive" sales tactics, but not to this abhorrent level! This is just Ridiculous!!!

They have since been placed under "new ownership" (How ironic!)
