Ok where to start. I got on a bus on 10/07/06 and arrived on the 8th. No sleep on bus and then they told me i had to go drive my road test and backing test. God knows how i did but i passed both. Everyone else failed backing test on first try except me. Everyone came back on day 2 after some sleep and passed. Everyone was complaining of being tired before we even made it to term. After that nitemare (for most) we headed for the motel.
After 2 days complaining we got our light changed in bathroom so me and room mate could see to wash our @*! By the way Motel owned by Covenant. Go figure. Other than the light and some roaches i guess it was ok. They fed us 3 times aday. Dont ask it wasnt wirth eating. I ended up eating once a day from chinese down the road who delivered.
Now to orientation and physicals. Well physicals was a joke. Crammed 60 ppl into one room made them take turns reading an eye chart infront of all watching. Memorizing chart was easy. Of course everyone passed. Then actual physical was a woman asking a couple questings and waving a light in front of your face and the telling u to cough. (you know the turn ur head and cough) Max time 2min.
Sorry to drag this out but it gets better. Come on ppl lets see what Covenant is really about.
Ok orientation over. Now to get a truck. I got a 3 yr old Volvo which didnt seem to bad till i opened the door. OMG it was rank. Smelled like someone died in there. It was a PETS truck. Stunk bad. After Arguing with dispatch he tried giving me a load to get me out of the yard with it knowing i would be stuck with it once out of the term. So i waited another 24hrs for another trk. I get a Columbia 255k miles. Oil leaks and out of alignment rear tires. Of course there is nothing wrong according to inspection bay.
Ok i got my first load Chattanooga, TN to Baldwinsville, NY, good load, Ok all bad stuff behind me right? WRONG. I get there 6 hrs before del time. Once in a dock (9pm) i wasnt empty till 4am. No big deal i get some sleep. Once out of lot i parked across street and after over 32hrs i got a load from Eastern PA to GA. Del ontime and set again for another 36hrs.
I called and complained about setting so much and they pushed me to a dedicated run. This run guarenteed 2500 miles whether u turned them or not. So i goto this account and im not to happy considering all thats happened so far.
I start getting miscommunications with dispatch and no one seems to know anything about anything u ask. Directions and such. Night and Day dispatch dont know what each other is doing. After many complaints about disorganised work environment, I decided this wasnt company for me. I ask to be routed thru home to empty trk and return to columbus, oh. I was told i could not quit cause i was dedicated and was always under dispatch. So i decided to quit while on hometime next time i went home.
Dispatch called and ask me to give them a chance. I guess i thought i owed them that much so after 30min on phone i agreed to.
I drove a few more days and got my dedicated pay check which paid $369
