I started swift training academy in Feb I was put on a trainer truck and lasted three weeks (woke up in the term one night to fine him watching porn and smoking crack out of a soda can). I got another trainer and he was excellent. We drove the hell out of his truck and I got a lot of miles and good training.
In May I was 'upgraded' to my own truck. I was excited and not ready for the caos the followed. I don't know who said it, but I read in this forum that Swift doesn't send new drivers with high value loads or into the mountains. Well, my third load was from Dell computers out of Austin. I received several HV loads in the 6 months I worked there.
Swift never ever got me home within three weeks and when they did get me home, I was there sometimes not for 24 hours before dispatched again. I never received the home time they said I would. Maybe I was not ready to be a truck driver, but I was very disappointed with them. I hate to sit if I am not at home.
I quit them twice. The first time they called me back and wanted to reinstate me. I went like a fool. The second time I quit was because I sat for three days with no load 200 miles from my house. It was over labor day holiday. I asked my DM if I could get a load going to the house before the long weekend because I had experience with the 'slow freight' but because I was only 10 days out he said no.
After much complaining over the QC-they got me a load going straight to my hometown (a load that had sat in their computer all weekend). They are very unorganized. When I did quit, I left their truck at their term in Lancaster Tx (not under dispatch-but shop status) because after sitting all weekend, they now wanted me to get the trk serviced. They said my DAC would say that I abandoned vehicle and or equipment. They put a load on my truck after I turned my keys in the the dispatch window.
