Bad Service Ethics Caught red handed attempting to reverse previous fix to vehicle ripoff swindlers

Business ethics issue:

Brought Vehicle to Earnhard Ford for repair work on 7/17/02. The Service/Sales person Rick indicated the charge would be an $89 diagnostic fee the cost of repair if I choose to proceed after the diagnosis.

I was told the repair would be $153 all inclusive to
reconnect a vacuum line. I said "hold off, I will make a
decision later."

Another shop who had done previous work on the truck told
me they would re-connect the vaccuum line for free.

I went into Earnhardts to pay the $89 diagnostic fee. And
take my truck to the other shop. Before I went into the
shop. I stopped by my truck to unload some posessions. I also started the engine to ensure that it would run well enough to take me to the other shop. It ran very well, as if the vaccuum line was reconnected without authorization. I then went into the customer service area where Rick told me to wait.

He then made a beeline through his shop. He grabbed a mechanic and approached my truck. I decided to follow. I found them both at my truck fumbling to get the hood open. They saw me and they both stopped immediatly and
walked back into the shop (with guilty looks on there faces).

It was clear at this point that it was there intention to break what they had fixed by disconnecting the vaccuum line. I wouldn't be waisting my time writing this if I had any doubt about what I saw.

I was left dumbfounded at what I just saw. The service/sales person and the mechanic had just ran away, leaving me with no explaination. I hopped in my truck and left to collect my thoughts.

Ten minuites later I went in to pay the diagnostic fee regardless of this companies ethics. With my check in my hand both Rick, and his manager both proceeded
to verbally attack me. I suggested that I would just leave. The attacks continued and as I left they still continued as I was accross the parking lot.

Is this ethical business practice?
