In May of this year I purchased an ATV from Friend&Friend in Ellsworth, Maine. At the time of purchase I was told by the sales rep. That the ATV was a 2003 model. I found at a later date that the ATV was not a 2003 model but a 2002 model. I called the dealer (friend&friend) multiple times and finally a sales manager told me that they knew about the mistake but failed to mention it to me, they said they meant to call it had just slipped their mind.
When I did finally get a manager to talk to I stressed how upset I was about the issue. I paid top dollar for a 2003 model and got a 2002 model that turned out to be in poor condition. The manager I spoke with (I believe his name was David) told me they had already taken care of the situation by refunding $300 to the bank. I never received any paperwork asking if I would agree with this to be done.in fact my paperwork still says they sold me a 2003 model. $300 is nowhere near the value difference in these models.
I think it is not only wrong to lie to someone about the year of the vehicle you are selling them but it is also fraudulent and illegal. I asked Friend&Friend to purchase the ATV back from me but they have refused. I have been going around and around with these guys for a long time now and I'm sick of it. As I have previously stated I still have all of the paperwork stating that Friend&Friend sold me a 2003 model ATV. However the vin/serial numbers on that same paperwork match the 2002 model ATV that I have.
