AAMCO Transmission
Ripoff the business that doesn't give a dam

The transmission was giving problems in my 1997 Town and
Country Van and I stopped by AAMCO because it was near my
house. I was assured that it could be fixed back like it
was when it was new and I agreed to let them fix it.

I paid the AAMCO shop $1792.00 when I picked it up. The first problem was due to a fluid leak so I took it back in, they kept it for a few days and they called me said that they had the leak fixed. I took it home and the next morning my carport was soaked with Transmission Fluid.

I took it in again, the same thing they kept it, they called me assuring that it was fixed and the next morning my carport was soaked again with fresh Fluid. That morning I advised my wife not to drive it that we had to have it taken in again and we did.

The next day we took it in again and the same
thing again, it was reported as being fixed but it was
still leaking.

The next day my wife drove it to work and
when she got ready to leave it would not crank because the electrical system had not been hooked back up properly and we have to have it towed to our home because we could not reach anyone at the AAMCO shop.

When I returned home from my business trip my Carport was completely covered in transmission fluid where the van had been parked for 2 days. I went back to the shop and they said that they would have it towed down and fix it.

Once again they called and said it was ready, Once again we crossed our fingers and once again when we got it back we were let down by leaking transmission fluid.

I have now taken my Van in for the 6th time in only a month and a half and I picked it up yesterday from the shop, when I got there at around 6:30pm

I was in shock to find a puddle of transmission fluid had
leaked out of it. I contacted AAMCO Corporate Customer
Service yesterday after I dropped the van off and they
called me back yesterday afternoon and they assured me that they had spoken with the store owner and that it would most definitely be fixed when I picked it up yesterday.

Now after advising them that the van was not fixed and that it was still leaking, they (Corporate) have advised me to take it to a different AAMCO location.

I am not happy with this as we have lost all confidence with AAMCO through this ordeal not to mention we have spent hundreds of dollars on rental cars and we have been faced with undue burdens of either my wife or I having to call in to work that we were going to be late or have to leave early to either drop our van off or take it in.

In speaking with a friend of mine (Scott Garland) about this, I found out that his mother spent almost $3000.00 on her Saturn at this same AAMCO and they were unable to fix the car so she had to take it to the SATURN dealer to correct the problems that she had paid AAMCO to correct. Nothing was done by AAMCO to rectify this problem, nor was she given any of her money back, I am sure
that she would be more than happy to share her story with
you.

Please see the attached letter I have forwarded to
AAMCO Corporate:

I was assured after speaking with you customer service
person yesterday (Kevin Bryant) that my 1997 Town & Country Van would be fixed after having taken it in to the shop yesterday for the 6th time, and after he spoke directly with the shop owner, but when I picked it up yesterday there was a puddle of Transmission fluid under it which had leaked from the my Van as I saw it drip!

I have lost total confidence in your service center now as I have been nothing but patient up until this point! As of today I have called Kevin Bryant back 2 times since 8am this morning and I have not heard anything back from him. I would like a full refund of my money so that I can go to a competent mechanic who I spoke to earlier today and he told me that for almost the same money that I paid you all 1792.00 I can have a new factory transmission installed.

Your people checked my fluid level the other day with my van sitting on a slope and assured me that it was full of TF, I pulled it on level ground and had them check it again and it was 1 1/2 quarts low. I am not an idiot! I have made a living as a mechanic myself. I have contacted the NBC13 investigators who do reports on consumer fraud.

Your Advertisement reads "GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME - BEST WARRANTY IN THE BUSINESS" I have spent hundreds of dollars on rental cars and missed to much time from work giving your people an opportunity to fix my car and now I am tired of it. I just want my original money back 1792.00, if this can not be settled in a very timely manner I will pursue not only the original amount but the time lost damages, and any other monies that I am out including rental car. (END)

I am very concerned that this may happen to someone else as history has a way of repeating itself and I can not afford to just forget about this and pay some else to fix my car as my friends mother did. We are a family of 5 my kids are all in grade school and my wife and I both work to make ends meet. Please help us.

Thank you, Charlie Marler
