Complaint / Review
Aamco
After 4 times (11 days) in this shop, transmission still not working and headquarters are not willing to do anything about it, RIPOFF!

2/14/05 - Took my '95 Chevy Lumina to Aamco. They said the car would be ready in 2 days.

2/21/05 - My wife picked the car up from Aamco.

3/10/05 - Wife had to take the car back because 2nd gear was slipping. They said it was a bad modulator (this was the one they had put in the first time the car was in their shop). They changed the part while my wife waited and she took the car home that day.

3/17/05 - Had to take the car back to Aamco because it was having the same problem with 2nd gear slipping.

3/22/05 - Wife called Aamco and was told the modulator was bad. The owner said 2nd gear had burned up because it had been driven too long with a bad modulator. She told him the part had already been replaced by them twice before.

3/23/05 - Picked the car up... It didn't seem to have much power when taking off.

3/25/05 - Car had to be towed from my home back to Aamco because it was leaking transmission fluid badly. The owner said fluid was leaking because they had nicked the axle seal. Wife picked the car up later that day.

3/28/05 - Hard shifting and now a vibration. Humble Aamco says the car needs a tune-up... It's not the transmission. The car has had a tune-up, but the problem still exists.

7/14/05 - Having problems with 1st gear slipping, but I do not want Aamco touching my car again.

I paid them over $1800 for transmission work and spent over $600 on rental cars while my car was in their shop.

I have contacted Aamco's HQ and they are no help. I reported them to the BBB and no results from that either as of yet.

I feel I should be reimbursed at least half of the money I've spent on rental cars because of their failure to repair my car. They did send a $75 check for reimbursement, but I refuse to cash it... I will not accept this as any sort of settlement. I feel I deserve a transmission that works like it should.

These are statements from their website...

"As your local, independent AAMCO dealer, we want to make sure you're satisfied with the service you receive. We stake our reputation on our award-winning customer service."

And...

"With Aamco, the help you need is never more than a phone call away. Aamco has more than 700 transmission centers across North America, with certified technicians who are trained to fix your car once and fix it right."

Believe what you will, but as far as I'm concerned these people are out to screw you no matter what their commercials say or what they claim on their website.
