I have been a customer of Progressive for several years now. Last year I did not get into any accidents or receive any tickets. I was excited that with the turn of the year a few points would be dropped from my driving record and consequently my insurance should have gone down. When I got the bill, my insurance had actually gone up $400.
A representative from Progressive informed me that this was due to a flucuating percentage based on the number of accidents they were required to pay out. Again, another year has passed and my insurance has gone up again even though I am losing points on my driving record. Progressive says this is a flucuation that all their customers experience.
Funny, the flucuation I have experienced only deals with increases, I have yet to see any decreases in costs. Over the next few days I will find some other agency to represent me. I don't understand how Progressive expects people to budget for car insurance if increases in costs are not relative to the specific insured driver.
