Pacific Rim Auto Specialty & The owner Bill are ripoffs

On March 6 Pacific Rim Auto Specialty did a 60k miles service maintenance for our 1999 mitsubishi montero sport.

When it was all done the owner (Bill) said everything should be great "I put NGK platinum spark plug", change the timing belt and others that is required for a 60k miles maintenance for that vehicle.

So things were ok until April 26 when we took a trip to Palm Springs CA. When I started the car, after dinner that night, the idle of the vehicle was not good at all it was rough, kind of misfiring and seems like it was going to stall, once I drove it seems like it was ok.

The following morning April 27 I looked for a Mitsubishi Dealer so I could have the vehicle checked, when I finally located one, the service dept did a diagnostic checked through a computer and found that the vehicle had stress on the number 6 spark plugs and that some sort of number that mitsubishi use for plugs was not the right one and they suggested that I take the vehicle back to whoever change the spark plugs.

When we drove the vehicle back home it seems like it was fine and decided to bring the vehicle back when I have some time because of my work schedule. On May 17 the car stalled upon exiting the highway and will not start at all. After a while it started but their was a knocking sound like there was no oil on the engine.

So we called Pacific Rim the following morning, which was saturday, and explain what happened, so Bill the owner told us to bring it in, which we did through a tow truck. The vehicle stayed at Pacific Rim for 5 days, with Bill not knowing what the problem is and telling us that it could be this or that and in order to diagnos it they have to take the engine apart and it will be a lot of work because it is something major and it will cost us a lot of money.

We told Bill that we were going to take it to the original place of purchase and maybe they could find out what was wrong with it because we still have the extended warranty on the vehicle. So we towed the vehicle again to the Mitsubishi dealer in Carlsbad Ca. They found that whoever work on the car drop a bolt on the intake on the number 6 spark plug and that cause the knocking noise.

The service dept at the Mitsubishi dealer showed me the bolt and the damage spark plug, which I was expecting to be a platinum "NGK" plug which I was charged 59.58 for the six was nothing more than a denso brand.

The vehicle is now at dealer and Bill has offered to fix the car for free but I don't trust this guy now because of what he has done with the spark plugs which by the way on the reciept it states word for word NGK platinum plugs and when I confronted him about it he said that "it was a clerical error" I think Pacific Rim, Bill, was responsible for what happened which he claims that the other Mitsubishi who diagnos it in the first place might have done it.

So I was rip-off by Pacific Rim and Mitsubishi dealer will charge a ludicrous amount to get the car fixed.??
