I wish I read the reports before I bought my stereo from this shop. I'll start by telling everyone that I purchased a top-of-the-line Pinoeer headunit and accesories for my vehicle. This was a $2,500 headunit and about $1,000 in accesories (ipod adapters, Nav adapters, etc...). When i originally purchased the equipment, they indicated a quick install and 100% gaurentee on all their work.
I took the day off work and dropped my car off around 11am. I called around 5:30 to see how things were progressing and spoke with the tech. He told me that my car was in pieces and that he was working really really hard to get everything done, but he didn't think he would finish in one day. He asked if i could leave the vehicle over night, but I declined. I picked up the car at 7pm and found all of my personal belongings (previously in the center console) thrown all over the back seat. The install of the headunit looked fair at best, but it was only about 35% complete.
I decided to take a second day off work to get the car in first thing and get this job done. I called three times throughout the day to get updates and everytime the tech would say "I'm working on it...". At 6:30pm I called to let them know i was in route to pick up the vehicle. They told me they still weren't finished and asked if I could leave the car over night. Frusterated and unable to understand what the problem was, I agreed. He made certain to me that I would have the car back tomorrow and appologized for the delay. The third day came and went with no updates on the vehicle or time to pick it up. I drove to the shop at 6:30pm and my car was still in pieces only about 70% complete.
I couldn't believe my eyes!!! Two guys were working on my car for three days and it still wasn't finshed. How could this be? Tweeter told me it would only take the better half of a day! I stayed and watched/helped as he feaverishly tried to put the stereo and it's components together. The tech had no clue what he was doing... This was way, way, way over his head. I asked him what his background was and he told me he was an electrician. I sat around for almost two hours on Friday night as this retard fiddled with the wiring tring to get everything to fit and work. He never finished the job.
I took my car back Friday night with a horrible feedback thorugh my speakers, none of my steering wheel controls working, and hanging wires under my dash board. When i asked him about the whinning engine noise (feedback)... He replied "just turn up the volume... We'll fix it next time you come in".
I went out of town for the weekend and returned to work on Monday. Lunch at noon and then worked until 5:45pm. I walked out to my car and the window had been shattered, dashboard ripped apart and the stereo was stolen. Police reports filed, but nothing else I could do.insurance paid to have the vehilce fixed and when the tech from the insurance company looked in the dash, he couldn't believe the "chop shop" job they did. He told me that Boww Down didn't install the harness correctly and that the feedback was comming from the amp.
The amplifier was a Saga Usa - PA-5100. He charged me $700 for the amp and a 12' sub w/box. This was after i worked him down $150. The tech form the insurance company had never heard of the brand (neither had I), but the stereo shop claimed it was a great 5 channel amp. I just searched online and found the same amp for $59. I can not believe how big of a scam this group is.
I called to return the amp & sub for a refund and was told they would only give me $320. Their excuse was labor and re-stocking. It wan't until after this all had happened that I read about this company. Ironically, a gentlemen in my office has had the same experience. He had to have Newport Sound rewire his entire suburban for $400. This is the biggest Rip Off and this place needs to be shut down.
