I came across this car dealer here in Tulsa on the net. I found a car I was interested in and I filled out there financing application online.
I do not have great credit so I knew we would have to work on that.By the way, this is a privately owned car lot that sells only used cars no big name dealer.
To my suprise they called the next day telling me to bring $1500.00 for a down payment and the car was mine. (A 1994 Corvette).
I had the money and told them I could not be there that day but would come in the next day. This dealership called my house four or five times that day to make sure I wasn't going to change my mind. The car is nothing special with about 120,000 miles, and it needed new tires, but as stated I knew I didn't have great credit and was getting the car for $8900.00...
They started calling the next morning at 9:00am sharp to make sure I was still coming in, and not to forget my $1500 down payment.
I arrived at the dealership to get my car and was then informed me they would need $5000.00 down since I recieved disibility income as my way of living. (oversight they say)
They new this from day one, as I didn't try to hide anything as I get paid disibility monthly, and that is my steady income.
They never intended to sell me the car with a $1500 down payment but they thought they could make me fall for there high pressure b.S. And go ahead and give them five grand up front, which I refused to do, as I was very angry for all this crap they put me through, and I informed them with the tatics they use to real you in that I wouldn't buy the car now for one dollar. I have worked in the car business in the past and am familiar with most of the sleazy tricks to get you to buy, but this was a new one on me.
