I purchased a car at Curry Ford in Yorktown NY. Not only did they falsify documents, they did what is called cramming, I ended up with things I never wanted. They also agreed to pay off the balance owed on my leased vehicle that I traded in, I would never have bought the new car if this could not be done.
They ruined my credit and now I am in a law suit with them. I am determined to make them pay for this as I have chronic multiple sclerosis and all this stress is killing me.
They lied to me and totally conned me... Then to make it worse they did the same crap to my mom, who purchased her car first. I have about 500 documents on this Curry guy... Be very afraid. They are creeps and that is being nice!
The complete story:
My current dilemma is that in December of 1997 I bought a car from Curry Ford 4 days after my Mother bought a car from them. The only reason I bought the car was because I just happened to be there with my Mom when she was picking up her car.
I had a Red Carpet lease on a 1996 Cougar that was not to expire for another 6 months. I asked the credit manager Andre, what are my chances of getting out of this lease, I am over my mileage and I have 6 payments left. He said "oh, no problem, your in Andre's world now, I will take care of you." Well stupid trusting fool that I am I believed him, even when sighning the paper work and he was talking my ear off about his dogs (I am a big animal lover). I never suspected a thing. They took the Cougar and gave me my new car, so I thought everything was ok.
Then in March of 98, I received a letter from the police department saying that my old car had been repossesed, dumb me thought it was just a paperwork mistake. I called Andre and he told me he would take care of it. I believed him. Then in June of 1998 I received a bill from Ford forwarded from my old address claiming that I owed them $4000. I then called the dealership again and everyone that was there at the time of my deal had vanished. I then tried to call Mr. Curry himself and his secretary Christine reffered me to there on staff attorney Mr. Robert Becker. He spoke to me like I was some type of liar and did one of those go ahead sue us routines, so I called a lawyer. Curry was served with papers by my attorney and they never answered, so my attorney got a judgement against them. That is when they claimed to have never seen the papers because the person who sighned for them no longer works there. So the judgement was vacated.
So then we had depositions and they are claiming that I purchased an Extended Warranty, and a $1200 alarm. The funny thing is that I saw years ago on 20/20 or Dateline not to purchase extended warranties, so when Andre asked me if I wanted one I clearly said NO. As for the alarm, I have the sticker from the car and standard equipment was a anti theft system and remote keyless entry, so why would I purchase a $1200 dollar alarm.
My signature was on some of the papers, the original documents show where he highlighted the things that he wanted me to see and not the things that he did not want me to see. They also produced one document that I never even sighned. I was also over charged on Sales Tax.
I have done some extensive research on this Curry guy, I could not believe what I found. He changes his name, one minute he is Bernard Curry, then BF Curry, then FB Curry, his dealerships have numurous law suits and he has several DBA's.
I tried contacting every agency I could think of and Ford themselves and nobody gives a damn. The BBB still gives his dealerships a satisfactory rating! We also went back to my moms original papers and they did the same thing to her only w/o the trade in. She purchased a used Taurus for $11450. And yet her finance agreement was for over $13000. Plus a $1500 extended warranty!!! Her tax was only $700. So geeze did they get us. He also told me that after a year I could refinance the car, well guess what, I am upside down on the car and nobody will refinance it.
At this point I swear it is not the money, not that I have tons because I have shelled out over $7000 dollars to my attorney. It is more about the point, how could they do this to a 31 year old disabled woman and a senior citizen. One thing about my disease is that stress makes it worse and I feel like I have physically suffered from this. My body may be in pieces, but I still have some fight in me and I want to help others, if this disease is going to be part of my life ok, but it is not going to take it or my spirit. I can still battle the best of them
