I went to Certified Truck Rental in Cleveland Tennessee on June 21 to inform the company that I would be traveling with an Autistic child and I needed to verify that the truck was in good shape. He informed me that the truck had only 40,000 miles.
We were traveling from Tennessee to Texas. At 8 pm we got a flat on the car carrier close to Laurel Mississippi. The brake alarm system also activated as we slowly made our way to Laurel. It took 30 minutes to get in touch with their customer service. They told us that it will be the next day before they could get anyone to replace the tire. That happened the next day at 9 am. The brake situation was a nightmare. The Joe person that was coming to check the brakes was going to be there at 10 am. We did find where the brake fluid was low, so we added brake fluid and the alarm did not activate. We called to inform this Joe character that things seemed ok - this was at 10 am. He told us to wait and that he will be there in one hour. An hour passed, we called, he was only 50 miles away. We waited until 2:15 pm. How do these people sleep at night? He lied to us 4 times.
We made it to Texas without further incident, but anyone that has an Autistic child knows how these set backs can cause anxiety and issues. All the company needed to have done is check the fluid levels before we left. I do not feel we should have to pay the full truck fee.
Two weeks later and nobody has returned calls or made apologies.
