I contacted Automerica concerning a 1994 Ford Bronco on 4/1/06 and submitted a credit application via their website. I called and spoke with Rick about my application and situation. Rick told me that my credit was fine for the Bronco and encouraged me to come down.
I wanted to check my credit first because i've had some issues and wanted to make sure they could help me with financing before making the 40 minute drive to their dealership. Well, before I left I knew the price was slightly inflated to begin with at $7,999 when the book value max for this vehicle was $6,700. I figured I'd present them with the facts and have them price the truck accordingly. Not only did they not, they came down to $6,800 and then expected me to put down the difference from $5,000. It seems that from the time I spoke with them until I arrived, they were magically only able to finance me for $5,000 but on the phone I was told after informing them I only had $750 down that I could finance the truck "no problem".in fact they told me that should I want to, I could finance a newer truck at more money.
When I didn't want to get ripped off on the price of the Bronco (which had body damage and a poor paint job) I inquired about their other selection of full sized trucks. I was summarily told that all the other trucks were out of my price range. So to be clear, on the phone I could qualify no problem but when I make the drive down there all I can buy on their whole lot is that Bronco that is way overpriced.
These "business men" are very unscrupulous and dishonest. They will say whatever it takes to get you down there then they'll pull the old bait and switch.
