Complaint / review text:
My Husband and I went to the Auto mall outlet to trade in our vehicle in September of 2005. We spent the entire day looking at different vehicles. Mainly due to the fact that we would find a car, the salesman would say, " No problem we can get ya in that one"! And then He would work up the deal and come up with some excuse as to why we couldn't have it. We finallt found a 2005 ford focus that we really liked. On the windshield, it said 2005 ford focus! 15,000 miles, only $189 a month. Well, we thought that was a little low considering it was a new car, but we repeatedly asked if that was correct and they kept saying yes! Well we test drove the car and then we went inside to work up the paperwork. The salesman came out and said, well the cost per month was written incorrectly, it's going to be $294 a month! What an increase!
At that point it was getting late and we wanted to take the deal but we wanted to test drive it one more time on the interstate and make sure it was in good condition. Well we got in the car and the airbag lights came on. My husband upon further notice, also saw the drivers side seat was really crooked and off balance, we told the salesman we wanted to talk to the manager to see about getting the problems fixed before we bought the car since they wanted full price. He informed us that we can call Ford warranty and they would fix everything since the car came with a bumper to bumper warranty. He assured us there would be no issues.
We purchased the car and set up an appt to have the car fixed. We dropped it off at Ford and they called me 4 hrs later and informed me that the car had been in a serious accident, thus the reason the seat was so crooked. He went on to explain there is a sensor located inside the seat for the airbags, apparently, a truck or big vehicle rammed through the drivers side door and messed up the entire drivers side, because they also notice discoloration in the paint on the door and top of the hood. He said the warranty was not what they said the car came with, and that it doesn't cover accidents. So we would have to out of pocket $2700 to have it all fixed! We immediately called the dealership and explained the situation and told them we wanted the car either fixed at their expense or they should buy it back from us. He told us to bring it in and he would take care of us. We took it to them and we found a car we wanted, they did the paperwork and came back and said that because of the accident, (that was not our faults) the car had to much negative equity and could not be traded in because they could not bite that much cost.
I told them that they overcharged us in the first place by charging full book price on the car knowing it had problems with the airbags and the seat and that it had been in an accident. He told us there was nothing he could do and we left. I called an attorney the next day who informed us that selling a car with faulty safety equipment is against Idaho State law. We called the dealership back and told them what the attorney said and the manger said he would talk to the owner and call us back. He never did. We called him and he refused to do anything for us and the most he could do was fix it at their shop and only pay around $1200. I asked to speak to the owner and he told me No. I am now in the steps of filing suit against this company. I SERIOUSLY recommend to anyone looking at this company to get a car, LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! The salesman are rude, and they are all only concerned with losing their commission, and could care less about customer service!
