On May 27 I paid Eurotech about $600 by credit card and provided a check for $600 for a $1200 ABS repair. They still weren't able to repair my speedometer which I stressed was the key issue. When I saw the car I noticed my glove box was hanging down. I asked why and they said they could fix it when I returned for the speedometer to be fixed. As I drove off the lot my glove box flew open under the power of my acceleration and all the contents flew out. It turns out it was completely destroyed by their negligent repairmanship. A 10 year old with a butterknife could have done a better job. If this wasn't the worst piece of engineering in the history of mankind I don't know what is. With a broken lock, broken tabs that hold it together, several missing screws and a missing vent control arm, it was beyond repair and cost $640 to replace (I obtained an invoice from BMW the next day). I put a stop payment on the check and provided a copy of the repair estimate, photos of the damage, and an explanation to the garage. I told them we were even. I never heard back. I expected they had accepted responsibility for their shoddy workmanship. Then nine full months later, to my horror I find that my bank had cleared the check, running my balance to $-500.00. This mechanic used an old trick: waiting for the 180 day limit on cancelled checks (itself a sham by the bank). If they had any true claim they would have approached me, but knowing they would be defeated in court, they decided to steal the money at a later date. I am appalled.
