State Farm Insurance
Agent Chuck Lawson Ripoff Who is allowed to make changes to your policy over the phone

I had been a customer of State Farm for three years until this happened and I could not believe it myself. I felt as though I was having a nightmare and could not wake up!

In April I was at work when I received a phone call from my local insurance agent. Ms. Pat who I have known since I was a little girl, asked me about the rental car I insured over the weekend and totaled. I said WHAT. I had no idea what she was talking about. I was upset and told her I would be down there in a few minutes.

The two weeks prior to this my husband had left. Even though he was my husband he was not on my insurance policy. He was listed as a driver in the household. I have never paid for rental insurance because I do not travel and my family lives close and we borrow vehicles. When my husband left he met some girl named Brandy from Georgia. Well I guess they rented a car to go to Georgia.in the meantime he totaled the car.

Here I am at the office in DeFuniak crying hysterically, and they wouldn't even tell me what car I supposedly rented and totaled. That would be a breech of my husbands privacy. Chuck Lawson told me himself. Now let me remind you that I was their customer not him! I feel like all they were worried about was the claim from the rental company! They wanted the deductible from me! I had a few choice words and they kept saying, Honey, the two of you are married that is the way it goes. So I am assuming that he kills someone without my knowledge I can be accused and convicted for murder!

I was pregnant with my daughter and did not need to miss work, but had to somehow get this fixed! With no help form my insurance agent. People from State Farm Claims office called me constantly at work. Finally, I spoke with someone sane and after patting myself on the back for keeping a GREAT filing system, it was proved that I was not liable. The paperwork at the local office was so screwed up! Luckily I had kept my statements!

Here is how all of this happened and I have cell phone records and the statements from my insurance agent to prove. My ex husband called the office and said he needed to rent a car and insure it. Ms. Pat told him he could not do that it was my policy. I would have to call them. So, he called this Brady chic, gave her my mothers name, my social, date of birth and the story of how I call Ms. Pat Ms. Pat and not by her last name, Mrs. Mcullers. So Brandy calls and pretends to be me, Ms. Pat asks her my mothers name and the girl replys, "Ms. Pat you know my mamma, Karen. Even Ms. Pat said it sounded strange. Why didn't she call me to verify. BIG RED FLAG! But, somehow it is my fault because I am married!

I am not much of a fighter and the father of my children was already in enough trouble without my adding fuel to the fire. So I just let it go. After Receiving two bills that were totally screwed up, from her changing the policy. I just cancelled the insurance, turned the tag in on my car and used my mothers car for a year. Now I pay very high premiums for insurance (I am a save driver) because of lapse in coverage for so long! Looks like State farm would have been a little more interested in helping ME!

Brandy and Craig (exhusband) never had to sign or do anything. The girl changed my insurance as well to allow for rental coverage. I even went to the sherrifs dept. And EVERYONE said he is your husband. Please how tell, with all the HIPA laws how this is possible!
