I purchased a 2003 Ford Focus from Marshal Mize Ford in Chattanooga, Tennessee in September. Shortly after my purchase I took the vehicle to the dealership for service. The problem was all the lights in the car flickered when I applied the brakes, changed the radio station, the intermittent wipers clicked on/off, and sometimes they just did it when the car was just rolling down the road. This flicker has been witnessed by many people including the service writers at the dealership and my family and friends. Since this began the radio display also flashes crazy computer writing and goes on and off without rhyme or reason. This too has been witnessed by many and I have pictures to prove it.
I took my car to the dealer complaining of the light flickering problem multiple times (about ten times) to no avail. One of the service writers told me that they could see the lights flicker but they could not figure out why it was doing it. The alternator and wiring harnesses have been replaced. The grounds and relays have all been checked and tested. Engineers have been consulted and their ideas have been tried. Still no solution or repair.
I requested that Ford Motor Co. Buy the vehicle back from me. After several months of mental anguish over the car and its questionable safety-headlights are very important when driving at night-Ford has offered to replace my car. This, however, is a scam.
I agree that the original MSRP of my vehicle and the one that I get as a replacement should match. But, they are trying to charge me a mileage usage fee of $0.375/mile @ 44,000 mi. Now, I have been making my payments since purchasing this vehicle and this mileage usage fee makes me feel as though I will be paying for this lemon twice because this charge would be added to the MSRP of the replacement vehicle which I would have to finance and make payments on.
I have been paying for this vehicle for 2 years and now they want me to start back at square 1 and pay them more money for something that is an obvious manufacturing defect that was documented 33,000 miles ago!!! This was the first and only Ford product that I have ever or will ever own as long as I live.
