My recent employment with Swift Trans as a Company driver has turned into the worst nightmare of my life. I studied trained and received My CDL through DOT in Austin TX 2011. Swift Trans in Lancaster put me on a truck with a good mentor who went home halfway through my training.instead of waiting at the terminal I was bussed home and waited in Austin For a week w no pay until I could get another trainer. I returned, finished my training and spent three days in Laredo waiting to get back to Dallas / Lancaster for a Truck. I was dispatched to the Northeast corridor in a high mileage trade truck that continually broke down, but I still made deliveries on time. Through out the country I dealt with dangerous and roadworthy trailers.
One trailer had a faulty electrical box (loose faceplate) that broke as I backed to a dock. I tightened the face plate with my own tools but it had apparently vibrated loose in the trip from OKLA to Maryland. Since the box was faulty and the electrical prongs broken I called for a breakdown to repair / replace box
In December I dispatched to Laredo and checked into terminal for trailer inspection and tractor repair on brakes. After recievinig trailer inspection I pulled from garage to tractor shop for brakes. And struck a small marker pole when tractor lurched to right as I applied brakes.
Needless to say brakes were fixed and damage repaired. I waited three days for load out of Laredo. I turned down PA load due to scheduled home time for Christmas and took load to GA. Lancaster Had me T call load in Houston and Terminated me. I just recently found that Fleet manager in Lancaster Reported 2 Breakdowns / faulty Equip as preventables on DAC.
Currently fighting Swift on unemployment and false DAC reports. Have spent last year over the road and have Perfect delivery records in 2 unsafe trucks. Terminal manager and driver manager have since been fired and have been blacklisted in the trucking industry. Can't say swift is better or worse than most in the industry but from my experience they are too big for they're own good. They make more money training drivers than delivering freight.
Beware of this Company and it's promises. Living in poverty in a truck for SWIFT is the worst lifestyle one could imagine. Am currently appealing for record correction From Labor board. There is no justice with this company.
