False Advertising Certified ASE Quality Inspection

I purchased a 2002 Nissan Altima SE from them in June. One week later I took the car back and had them check the brakes because they were making a squealing noise. I was told the noise was due to aftermarket (non Nissan) brakes being put on the car during the "Quality Inspection".

I insisted on Carmax changing the brakes to Nissan brand brakes so that I didn't have to deal with te various noises. I live 30 miles away from the dealer and drove the car home during the ride home the car started making noises that it wasn't making when I took the car in. I immediately called Carmax service department and advised them the car was making a horrible noise. I asked the service advisor was he sure that he put Nissan brakes on my car, he pit me on hold for 7 minutes came back and said they put brand new aftermarket brakes back on the the car.

I asked what was the purpose, when I requested they put Nissan brakes on the car. He then told me "oh it's possible that the technician forgot to out a shim kit on the car (important to applying new brakes properly)". So the service advisors suggestion was to bring the car back and they will install the shim kit. I explained to him I live 30 miles away and asked would the car be okay to drive back. He made a joke and said "just don't brake alot".

The next day I took the car bsck and they "attempted" to fix the problem for free of course and kept re-inerating that to me. I get the car back and I am frustrated to find that the car is still making that same noise and the brake pedal goes to the floor.instead of returning the car to them, according to the California Lemon Law you must first give the dealer the chance to correct the problem before you take other actions. I took the car to Schaiers Nissan (local dealer to my home) come to find out they (Carmax) put brand new brakes on the car bur failed to install a shim kit and resurface the rotors, which resulted in me having to pay for Front & Back brakes and brand new Front & Back rotors which was $800.11, and this was all in the first week.

In addition to that issue, I was advised from Nissan there were two important recalls on my car that could have resulted in my car stalling anywhere, anytime or even catching fire due to faulty parts. Now had Carmax performed their 125 ASE Quality Inspection they would have found those two important recalls. I called Carmax from the Nissan dealer and needless to say they were speechless. I advised Ivan (Store Manager) that I wanted a full refund down to my 11 cents, he agreed. That was 3 1/2 weeks ago, it does not take that long to send a check from the San Fernando Valley to Long Beach. So please buyer beware of Carmax.
