Just Brakes
Is the biggest rip-off, and it doesn't help if your a female

I took my 1996 Nissan P/U to Just Brakes (@9550 N. 90th St. Ste. B-2; Scottsdale, AZ 85258; Phone: 480-451-8113; Manager: John) about a year ago to get my front brakes worked on. I thought that I just needed my brake pads replaced, but instead, I was told that my calipers needed to be rebuilt. And, not only did my calipers need to be rebuilt, but that it was going to cost me $550. I was told that my brakes needed to be worked on asap, that I'd need to leave my car there overnight to be fixed because my brakes were so bad, I couldn't drive on them. Of course I took his advice and had them work on it because I figured that these people new better than I did, what was wrong with my brakes... After all, I'm not an expert... Otherwise, I'd own my own brake shop. Little did I know what I was getting myself into.

So, they supposedly fixed my brakes and I paid them the $550 and I was on my way. Well, since I picked my truck up, it made this high pitched squeaking noise that I couldn't figure out what it was. It was so loud and annoying that I called Just Brakes to see if maybe they had any idea, since it only started happening after I got my brakes worked on... They told me to go to this mechanic next door to see if they could find the problem. After taking it to this mechanic that was referred to me by Just Brakes three times for what they thought was a fan belt problem, I realized that they had no clue what the problem was and that I had forked out more money to replace my belts, which didn't need to be replaced. So, I decided to take my car to Just Brakes again to have them check on the brakes just to make sure that it wasn't the brakes.

Just Brakes supposedly put a new set of pads on my truck, but it still made this noise, so I figured that it was time to take it to Nissan to see what they had to say about it. (And just to add, before this experience, I would never take my car to the dealer because they're so expensive. But now that I know that I got ripped off going to someplace like Just Brakes, I will always go to the dealer first.)

Nissan ran a diagnostic and informed me that my brake pads were too hard and that they needed to be replaced with a softer pad. They suggested that I go back to where I had my brakes originally worked on, so that I wouldn't have to pay more, otherwise I could have Nissan redo the brake job that Just Brakes did and it would cost a little over $300. Of course I opted to go back to Just Brakes.

I took it back to Just Brakes again. They replaced my pads with another set, and said that these softer ones should take care of the noise. Unfortunately, it still made the noise and I took it back again and requested that factory manufactured brakes be put on the car, since that is what Nissan suggested. John, the manager, assured me that the manufactured brakes were put on, that he also payed extra money out of his own pocket, just to have these factory brakes put on. Alright, great, but it still made this noise.

So now we come to almost a year later and my car is still making this noise. Yesterday, Martin Luther King day, I took my car into Nissan again for a diagnostic because this noise was getting on my last nerve. I figured that if anyone could fix this, it would have to be Nissan. Nissan came back to me and let me know that indeed, there were NOT factory brakes on my truck, that Just Brakes lied to my face about spending extra money to have factory brakes installed. They also told me that Just Brakes failed to put in the hardware kit for my brakes, that is required for my truck, and there was another part missing from my brakes. Unfortunately, although Nissan could tell me that my calipers were worked on, they couldn't tell me if they even needed to be rebuilt in the beginning. What Nissan could confirm though, was that I was definitely ripped off by Just Brakes and they completely gave me the run-around and wasted a year of my time by not fixing my brakes properly. That's pretty sad that I entrusted my truck to this company only to find out that they obviously don't know anything about brakes, but they do know how to screw a poor girl over.

So, now that I've spent $550 to rebuild my calipers, over $100 to replace my fan belt that didn't need to be replaced, $330 to have Nissan redo the brake job that Just Brakes failed to to correctly, and God know how much time and stress this has caused. I hope that whole company goes under. We don't need companies like this ripping us off and taking our hard earned money. That's ridiculous. So, needless to say, I've spend about a thousand dollars and a year trying to get this problem resolved only for this John guy at Just Brakes to tell me to "Bring it on!" when I call him to complain about this service. No way... I will do anything to get my money back and put these guys out of business.
