My son wants to by a car, but his credit is not perfect so he had gotten a letter in the mail that told him he could by a car at this one car dealer. He went over and looked around and saw a 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA.
The saleperson let my son take the car for a test drive. My son then brought the car over to my office for me to see and asked what I thought about it. I asked how much and he told me that they were asking $19,000.00. I then asked how many miles was on the car. He said just a little over 18,000 miles. I told him that this was not a new car and that I thought that $19,000.00 was a little too much.
This car was just a standard chevrolet impala with no add on. I told him not to sign anything until I check this car out on the web. And he said ok. I searched the web and found out that this car was worth only $17,000.00 at a dealer. After work I tried to call my son to find out if he took the car back and see if he was at the dealers.
I could not get an answer so I called the dealers to see if he was there and they told me that he was there and joked with me that he had already signed for the car and the deal was done. I told them that he was not to sign and that I was coming over to talk about the price of the car.
I pulled up and saw my son sitting out side of the car lot dealer and asked him what was going on. He said that the salesperson was waiting on someone else and that he was waiting to talk to him about the car. After about 20 minutes that salesperson came out and said ok you can come in now and sign the papers.
I said what do you mean sign the papers? We did not get to talk about the price of the car. The saleperson said well lets go over the contract and we'll talk. At the top it had price of car $20,000.00 not $19,000.00, I asked what is this my son was told $19,000.00 and besides I found out that this car is worth only $17,000.00.
The salesperson how do you know that this car is worth only $17,000.00. I told him that first I checked out it out on the web at kelly blue book. He said no you could not have because this car is not in the kelly blue book because it is a new car. I said no it is not a new car because it has over 18000 miles on it, it is considered a used car.
The salesperson looked it up and saw that it was indeed listed as $17,000.00. The saleperson then called another salesperson in to I guess double talk me into telling me why the car was priced $20,000.00. I told him no you do not double talk me just tell me why you priced this car so high. At this time another person ran into the room and yelled GET OUT NOW!
He said I have been in my office and heard just about enough of you. I said that I was only trying to find out why the price of the car was so high and that he had no right to come in and yell at me like that. He said just get the hell out we do not need your business here and grab the papers out of the other salesperson hand and thew them in the trash.
I turned to my son and said do you still want to buy this car at this price? My son did not know what to say. As I was talking to my son the first salesperson took the papers out of the trash and said that they were ok and if he still wanted to sign he could. But to keep in mind that he could not get a car loan anywhere else but there.
My son and I looked at each other and asked how do you know? The salesperson said I check out other loan companies and found out that this was the only one that would give you a loan. I said he came in here with a check from a loan company you had no right to check his credit out, he did not authorize you to do this.
Again this other saleperson came back in yelling at the top of his voice saying I told you to get the hell out now. Now get out he said and ripped up the papers this time. I said fine I will turn you into the better business bureau. He said I don't care just get out.
So my son and I left. I then went to ford in Harrisburg and told them what had happen and they told me that the other car dealer was mad because they had the papers ready to sign and I came in and said no about the price. I will not deal with that company anymore and told my son if you want a good and fair deal go somewhere where you can deal and not have just one price shoved now your throat.
This dealership was rude and unprofessional and also I belive that something was shady about this deal from the first since this salesperson came out and yell like that just because of the price.
