Ripoff! Unprofessional, Rude, Harassing, Threatening thugs!

I purchased a 1998 Subaru in 2001 and Nuvell was the financial institution. It was a horrible experience from day one. But we endured it.

On April 5, we traded in our Subaru for a 2005 Ford Focus (our first brand new car!) and got our financing through another company which we were very happy about-happy to be rid of Nuvell-or so we thought.

Starting on April 8th, we began getting calls from Nuvell wondering where their payment was. I tried to explain that we had traded in the car and that the dealer (as all dealers do) got a 20 day pay off amount. I told them the dealers name, salesman's name, the address of the dealer, their phone and fax number and asked them to call the dealer to verify what I was telling them (because they plainly said they did not believe me) but they would not.

I therefore asked that they not call me anymore that it was out of my hands. They very rudely said that I was responsible until they received the pay off and demanded that I make a payment right then on the phone. I refused, referred them to the dealer again and hung up.

Nuvell called me everyday from then on-sometimes 3 and 4 times a day (I have the caller ID records and all the messages left saved on my voicemail-in case anyone is interested). They would start calling at 7:30 am and continue untilwell after 9pm (both of which are illegal according to collections rules-they even called on Sunday).

Each rep or supervisor that we dared to speak to acted like an enforcer for a loan shark-threatening legal actions, etc. I was even told by one rep that they would continue to call as they had been until the day the payoff check was received-which I believe is harassment given the situation.

At one point, one rep threatened to come and repo the car-my husband laughed and said "Go ahead-it's at * Ford/Mercury, in *, GA. Go ahead and get it-if it's still there". To that he was told that if it wasn't there we'd be arrested for desposing of stolen goods. We asked the dealership NUMEROUS times to call and give them the check number and the date it was mailed (April 8th-in case anyone is wondering) but Nuvell still called us up to 4 times EVERYDAY.

Finally, I had the phone company put a block on our line so we could block Nuvell's calls and we haven't heard from them on the phone since. We did, however, receive a threatening letter telling us legal action were going to be taken if we didn't pay over $1500 immediately. Nuvell finally credited our account for the payoffon April 28th according to what we were told.

I know it did not take 20 days for a check to go from Georgia to Tennessee (which is the address the dealer was given). But I know this-dealing with Nuvell is like dealing with a loan shark without the human decency. Loan sharks have more of a heart and more professionalism that this outfit. Watch out!!!
