Grossman Chevrolet
Poor Customer Service Costly! Ripoff

On August 24, I purchased a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. Since they did not have the truck that I wanted in stock, I asked my salesperson, to look at other dealerships that might have the truck in stock with the options that I wanted; i.E. Black, extended cab, automatic, XM radio, etc. When he called back to say that he had the truck, I assumed that it had everything that I asked for.

I noticed after I took delivery that the truck did not have XM radio, I called my salesperson to see if they could pay to have it installed since I felt it was supposed to be there in the first place. I could have misunderstood him. He then called me back and told me that it would cost too much to install, so I dropped the issue.

I set up an appointment for the 28th of December to have some warranty work done on the truck. Several days before that, I received a call that my new XM radio was in. I assumed that they decided to put the radio in. When I arrived at Grossman Chevrolet on the 28th, I was told by the service technician that an XM radio had come in and he was going to install the radio while they did the warranty work. He asked me about the radio and I told that the New Car Department must have ordered it to fix the issue when I purchased the vehicle.

I had no idea at that time that my wife had purchased the radio as an Anniversary gift and she was going to bring the truck out to have it installed. When I came to pick the truck up there was no charge. I was thinking what a great thing Grossman Chevrolet did when they paid for this.

After getting home that evening and explaining to my wife that Grossman Chevrolet put the radio in for no cost. She explained to me in frustration that they were supposed to call her when it came in, that she ordered the radio as a gift and that they were not supposed to say anything.

We then received a bill for the radio and I made the decision to contact my salesperson about his checking with management to see if they would pay for all or part of the radio and he said he would get back to me. I did not hear from him. We received a bill for the radio and I called him again and he again said that he would approach them again. We never heard back from him and completely forgot about the issue until we received a Summons to Conciliation Court scheduled for April 13 for the payment of the radio.

I was furious that we received no call and they went forward with a Summons. I called their accounting department and immediately paid the $551.14 in full over the phone on March 7 with a credit card. We assumed the issue was closed! On April 13th, Grossman Chevrolet took us to court and received a Default Judgment for $40.31 court cost because we did not show because we thought the issued was resolved. Grossman Chevrolet had already been paid in full. I have a copy of the Order of Judgment showing pd $551.14. I then decided to write a letter to Rod Putney, the General Manager explaining what had transpired and received nothing in return, no call, no letter, nothing. I did incorrectly state in the letter that it was a Christmas gift when in fact it was an Anniversary gift.

My wife decided to visit Grossman Chevrolet to see what had happened. Upon asking for the manager, she was asked to step into a Ron's office. Upon explaining this entire situation to him, he stepped out of his office and came back to explain that it had been a mistake. No apology. Upon leaving his office, she turned around and ask for a simple apology, which he then gave. Do I feel that we could have done more, maybe?

Throughout this entire process, I still have not heard one word from their management. Grossman Chevrolet's lack of customer service and arrogance has costs us time, money and has put a black mark on my wife's perfect credit for no reason. I would not recommend Grossman Chevrolet to anyoneperiod.
