I am in the middle of getting a divorce and was forced to move out of my home of 21 years. I eventually moved in with a friend. At the same time, I lost my job. I had a hard time paying my bills, but was getting them paid even if they were behind. I received a call from Mr. Fields at Chrysler Financial. I told him my situation and asked him for help. I have 2 vehicles financed thru them. I have been paying on these cars for over 3 years and never had a problem. He told me I was eligible for deferrment, but needed to make 1 payment on each vehicle first. I explained to him that I needed at least a week to come up with the money. He told me that was not acceptable that I had to have the money sooner. I told him I would try.
2 days later, I made one payment on my GMC Jimmy of $250.00. This was on Saturday. I called to tell him and got his machine. I left him a message that I had made the payment and that I would make a payment on my Stratus the following Friday. I did not hear from him until Wednesday so I assumed that that agreement was acceptable before taht time. He left me a message. I wasn't able to get back to him right away I was out all day looking for a job. I intended to call him first thing on Thursday morning. Thursday morning came and we got up to BOTH of our vehicles being gone. They had repossessed them during the night. These are some of my issues (among many)!
They went into my CLOSED garage to take my Stratus.indiana law says they can not do that.
2. If I needed to make 1 payment on each vehicle, I did so on the Jimmy. They should have set me up on deferrment on that vehicle.
3. They are treating this as 1 loan it appears. My vehicles were only 53 and 57 days past due. Not even 60 days! I have NEVER heard of a vehicle being repossessed that soon. Well, he told me that between the 2 I was over 90 days. I don't believe they can do that. These vehicles were purchased at different dealerships at different times. He also told me in the midst of us arguing one time that they repossess at 90 days and then he backtracked when he realized what he'd said. I have been spoken to like I'm an idiot, they have been rude, condescending, and made me feel like garbage because I asked for help.
I have received nothing in writing, I have not received the affidavit of defense or my 3 or 21 day letters. They told me I have 21 days to get the cars back, but I don't know 21 days from what? I tried to call Mike in redemption and he was the rudest most ignorant man I have ever spoken to. He had me in tears by the time I got off the phone, and I knew no more than I did when I called. I now need almost $3000.00 to get my vehicles back. I've just started working and have absolutely no way to get that kind of money. I don't have money to hire an attorney and I'm totally at a loss for what to do. I feel as tho this will fall thru the cracks because I don't have the resources to fight them. I feel I have been severly mistreated and that this whole thing is very infair. I just want my vehicles back. PLEASE HELP ME.
Damage Resulting = We have just moved to the area we are now living in and don't know a soul. We were left with no vehicle, I had no food in my house with a pregnant daughter and no way to get there.
As a result, I have no vehicle, I've had to rent a car to get to the new job I got which is 60 miles from my home. The rental car is costing me a fortune. I can't keep paying this forever. My 19 year old daughter (who drives the Jimmy), is left home 60 miles from me with no transporation and she is 8 months pregnant. If something happened, I'd never get there. I have been left with feeling like a loser, they took the last shred of dignity and self respect I had left after the things that have happened to me in the last 6 months and they destroyed it. Someone needs to stop them from doing this to someone else.
