Saturn of Lewisville Sold me a Lemon and Led me to believe it was a Certified Car ripoff

I am writing you to update you on my problem with my car and Saturn of Lewisville and to see if you can give me any assistance. On October 23, I had to put my car in the Saturn of Lewisville's shop for transmission problems and a couple of other problems. Each time I put my car in the shop it a minimum of a $100.00 deductible. My husband is disabled and on social security. We have no other transportation for me to get back and forth to work. My husband's truck is a farm truck only with a low mileage inspection sticker. I must work as I am the one who works and bring in the money for my family. We currently are in a bankruptcy due to my husband's medical bills.

This time not only did I have to pay the deductible but they did not pick up the entire rent car. The warranty company only picked up 3 days out of the 10 days I was in a rent car. I was told by Saturn of Lewisville that they would pick up the rest. I had to put $50 down that was to be a deposit. My deposit was never returned from Enterprise like I was told it would be. I called to inquire why they had not returned the $50. At that time I was told that Saturn of Lewisville was now only picking up 4 days. I have been fighting with Saturn of Lewisville and Enterprise since then to get them to pay for the whole 10 days of the rent car.

In addition to that problem, On November 17, Enterprise went ahead and sent a debit through my account for $172.95. This caused 3 checks to bounce and be returned and my bank to charge me $30.00 for each of those for a total of $90.00. I am still waiting to see what the merchants will charge me.

Today Saturn of Lewisville says they have issued a PO for rest of the days of the rent car. I still have not received my money from Enterprise. I am still discussing with Saturn of Lewisville the large number of times this car has been in the shop in the short time that I have owned it and the miss information I was told when I bought it and the fact that I believe they sold me a LEMON. Please see below for a list of the problems I have had with this car since I got it just a little over a year ago on 7/11/03.

Problem with Car:

1. July 11 - bought what I was told was a Certified Used 1998 SL1 Saturn from Saturn of Lewisville. At that time my husband and I decided to go with Saturn because we had heard that Saturn was good about taking care of their customers and their cars. Unfortunately, we have not found this to be true. Since I have had this car it has been in the shop numerous times. I believe we were sold a LEMON. Thank god, I insisted on an extended warranty but it has not been that great. Each time I have to put my car in the shop it cost me at a minimum a $100.00 deductible, if I have to have it towed from my home it cost me $100.00 that the warranty does not pay since I live so far from the dealership and then it cost me tax, and insurance on the rental car. When we bought the car we notice a problem with the rear window. They said they fixed it. Now it is out it is not covered under the warranty.

2. October 7 - As you can tell from the attachments, I bought my car on July 11, On October 7, only 3 months after buying this car; I had the car into the Saturn of Lewisville for repairs. At this time, they had to do several things among which they had to replace the fuel pump, and a Sensor. At this time I had to have this car towed into the dealership from my home.

3. January 2 - Then again on January 2, I had to take my car in. This is 2 months after just having it in and only 5 months into having the car. At this time several things were done of which they replaced the module electronic ignition, water pump, and a pump / gasket. At this time again I had to have the car towed into the dealership from my home. At that time I also had the spark plug wires and plugs replaced which they did not cover. I was also told at this time that this car was not a certified used car but only safety certified. I believe this invalidates any contracts as I was lied to.

4. March - In March I had to have the Belt Tensioner replaced because it broke. I had to use a Private mechanic because it not covered by warranty.

5. October 23 I had to put my car in for transmission problems and a rear window regulator problem. I was told by the service department that my car's transmission needed to be rebuilt because there were no codes for the 2,3, or 4 gears and that I need a new rear window regulator. They told me that the warranty company would not pay for the rear window regulator and that they might want to put a used transmission in the car instead of rebuilding the transmission but that they were sending out an inspector and that they would only cover 3 days of the rent car.

After waiting a day for the inspector to get there his camera brakes in the middle of his inspection. We have to wait a day for him to get another camera. After he makes his inspection I am told that only 3 parts on the transmission will be replaced and only 3 days of the rent car will be covered.

At this time I owe $3,800.11 on this car. The price tag that was on the car originally when I went to the lot to look at the car was $4989.00. My trade in was 1,250.00. I believe I was lied to, sold a Lemon, and have been place in a car that is a danger. I would like to discuss what can be done about this problem. I think a total refund of all that I have paid toward this car's purchase and repairs should be credited to me on another GM product ($3,654.77 in payments, $2,500 in repair cost and expenses, $1,250 for trade in when bought this car, $362 cash I put down on this car and $1,233.23 for the trouble I have had for a total of $9,000.00). I believe Saturn has not kept their word and upheld their promises.
