I did not get ripped off, but this is a warning, b/c this company came very close to ripping my mom off.
My mom wanted to purchase a vehicle from Superior GMC. I used to be a loan officer so I know it is illegal to negotiate interest rates. They have to be based on credit score and amount financed, or some type of unbiased matrix that every lender has.

Anyhow, I advised the salesman that I did NOT want to spend hours there w/him running back and forth w / some "manager". I told him, 'pull my moms credit and tell her what rate she qualifies for. Tell her the price of the car and we'll derive the payment from there.'

The salesman said thats not how they work there, they first have to know how much you want to pay??? And then he tells you whatever price his "manager" pulls out of his hat and then you "negotiate". I told him 'okay my mom wants to pay $250/mo for 60 months' (On a $32k Sierra, I knew it was a ridiculous #, but he said what we "wanted" to pay!). He got all huffy and said be realistic!

Anyhow, we went on like that for a few minutes. Turns out the sticker price on the car was wrong. There was a $1000 rebate, but the we were supposed to add some "value-added cost" to the sticker price "only in California" of $3k! At that point, I was sure we weren't buying anything! But I let him keep talking. He finally agreed to quit beating around the bush and came back w / some number in the $700's for 72, yes 72 MONTHS!!!

I apologize for not having the exact numbers, but I know I pulled out my financial calculater and came up w / 20% something percent!!! I got up grabbed my purse and started walking. The ignorant salesman and his manager ran after us and told us its b/c of this and b/c of that! Needless to say, no purchase took place that night at Superior GMC. And on top of that they didn't give my mom her DL's back! We were there for 4 hours and they held it, they REFUSED to give it back, as if that was going to hold us there.

We left, and I called the next day to have it mailed to us, and had to speak to a some supposed manager before they could understand I wanted the DL back!!!

Bewared these people are scoundrels!!!
In part, we as consumers are to blame, b/c we have fallen into the assumption that this is the way a car is purchased. It wasn't until I worked in the loan industry that I realized different. You are supposed to be given more numbers than just a payment amount. I suggest taking a financial calculator w / you EVERY TIME!!!

As for my mom, we went to Infiniti the next day and where out of there in 2 hours w / a brand new QX45. All the salesman did was punch in the price, the rate, the term, and that was the payment we got, no more, no less!

Thats all I wanted from GMC and they couldn't deliver! I know cars are expensive! You don't have to sugarcoat it or deceive me into buying one, cuz chances are, if I'm at that dealership its b/c I'm already interested in the car, just don't try to swindle me! We went to GMC determined to buy a car! My mom had just turned in her lease and she NEEDED that car A LOT!!! SO that salesman lost what could have been the easiest sale of his life!!!
