On September 23rd, my husband and I went to Carney's Restuarant in Cape May, NJ for a late dinner. The food was mediocre and the service was marginal at best. There was a discrepancy with our bill. When my husband asked the waitress (she was also the manager of this restuarant) about it, she gave us an attitude and got huffy about it. Therefore we did not leave her a tip which was our choice. The next day, the owner debited our card for an extra $10.00 for her tip which we did not authorize in any way, shape or form. When we called him and asked him to rectify it, he tried to justify it by saying that she deserved it and had worked for them for over 20 years. He said she had never done anything wrong, and that she deserved to get this tip regardless and that it was "his call, and, not ours." One does not do business this way! This action of the owner and manager stealing from us makes these people common thieves!" We would never recommend anyone to eat at Carney's Restuarant in Cape May, NJ. Just an FYI to the public, always pay with CASH!!!
