Drive thrus - New drive thru windows

On numerous occasions my husband and I have driven thru the new drive thru windows that they have put in and they do not work! This is very aggravating! The automated voice comes on that says order when you are ready, so you order and you then you sit there like a dumb ass and get no response. Why did they even install these if they do not work!!!
