I'd like to share my "dirty dinning" experience at Umberto's of Long Island Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria located in Dunedin, Florida.
I heard from a co-worker that Umberto's served a great "New York" style pizza. So, I went to enjoy a pizza and a cold soda.
Well, here's what happened: I walked in the door and noticed two dead cocker roaches on the floor right in front of the opening to the kitchen!
At the same time that I had to take a huge deep breath from the overwhelming heat that hit me like bat in the gut! I was directed to the back for a table. I sat where I was directed. As I sat I noticed that the table was dirty. Red sauce was all over the table and the newly rolled silverware and napkin the it covered. I asked the one and only waitress if she could wipe off the table. She was nice but, it took her over fifteen minutes to come back and she didn't have a towel to wipe the table either.
Rather she asked to take my order. I didn't been given a menu yet???
After I got a towel and wiped the table myself. I placed my order. A large pizza that I had heard was so wonderful! After almost an hour passed I asked the waitress if my pizza was going to be served soon. She replied "O' yeah it's been on the counter".
When this wonderful Pizza that I heard so much about arrived it was ice cold, covered in sauce which I ordered "light sauce". However I decided that I'd try a slice - As I bit into the pizza I felt a pain and heard a "crunch" - I split out the contents of my mouth - THANK GOODNESS! There was a piece of GLASS in my pizza! I'm so grateful that I didn't swallow that... Thank GOODNESS!
I share this story, my story with anyone who may consider eating at Umberto's of Long Island Italian Restaurant located in Dunedin, Florida.
This establishment is owned by Antonio Illiano and his wife Myrtle Illiano (according to public records).
Beware of this "Dirty Dinning" establishment!
