Man, what happened to Popeyes Chicken?! I stopped in the Amarillo, TX, T.A. truck stop for a break on an 1100 mile trip. We do not have a Popeyes near us in N.M., so it was always, well, it used to be, a real treat to run up on a Popeyes while on the road. After eating at Popeyes for 20 some years, I was angry for the first time.
The size of the chicken pieces is a problem, and Popeyes makes it almost impossible to reach them with our complaints. [I miss the days when Popeyes was just a little chicken stand and not another "You'll take what we give you" corporation.]
I have found, as I am sure you have as well, that Popeyes is not the only one that has turned its back on its core supporters. Taco John's used to be a great little taco stand, and now the food is greasy and not fit to eat.
It used to be, not long ago, that at Popeyes you could expect huge, mouth-watering, crispy pieces of chicken and big, fluffy, handmade biscuits you could make a meal of. Now, at least at the Amarillo truck stop store, it is just the other way around. Little greasy pieces of chicken, must have been polt hens, and hockey pucks for bis... It all boils down to no bang for your buck. Popeyes sold out. Bummer.
