Yesterday my daughter purchased a hamburger at a McDonalds from the drive thru near her place of work. There was a mixup in her order and she ended up paying for a more expensive burger than she received. The hamburger she did receive had a fingernail in it. This she found after biting into the burger. She took the hamburger back, explained and showed them what she had found. They offered her a value menu hamburger in exchange or a $1.08 refund. The "manager" asked to see the hamburger, took it to the back of the store, returned without it and said it did not come from her employees so nothing they could do. The manager threw the hamburger away along with the fingernail. My daughter insisted on her returning it which she did. Does this sound acceptable? My daughter is a germ-a-phobic and was so grossed out she has not eaten anything since.
