In January we traveled to Brenham, Texas to watch a basketball game. We had a couple of hours to spare so we decided to stop and have lunch at Applebee's off the main highway into town. When we walked in around 11:00 A.M. There were only a few people seated at the bar area and two other couples in the dining area. Someone seated came over and took us to our seats and told us the waitress would be there in a minute. When she arrived she was very frazzled and nervous. She said she just came from school and they had given her 4 tables. There were only two other couples and another waitress was serving them, She couldn't answer any of our questions and when I asked about a side salad she dropped all of the menus trying to figure out how much that would cost. My husband ordered steak and she never asked how he wanted it prepared. I had to track her down to tell her and after she took our order she stood at the computer trying to figure out how to enter the order. Two other waitresses had to help her put our order in (about 20 minutes after se place it). We saw a large tray approaching and the manager put several appetizers on the table. We told him we didn't order appetizers, so he took them away (had we known what was to come we would have kept the appetizers). We saw him later chastising the waitress for obviously writing down the wrong table. We ordered salads and 30 minutes later, no salad, no food, no anything! She kept coming by and saying our food would be right out and it was taking longer because my husband ordered steak. I ordered a salad, so what was the excuse for that? We waited for about 50 minutes with no food, just water. Finally, we had to go to the game and we were tired of waiting. The manager never came over to the table. My husband told them we were leaving and that we had never waited that long for food in a retaurant before. We drove to a fast food place aceoss the road and ordered food so that we would not be late for the game. About a week and a half later to speak to a manager at the restaurant (hoping to get someone different). The woman was very apologetic and said the only hting she could do would be to send us a certificate for their restaurant location. She took down our address and said she would send it out. We are about 120 miles from this place, but since our son goes to school in the area we are there from time to time. Two weeks have passed and no certificate, no response - just like no food. It was bad enough having poor service and not getting our food, but for the management to promise us something and not deliver makes it really bad. I do not want to ever eat at this place again. We do have Applebee's in the Houston area that we enjoy and have not had a problem with, but the Brenham location is on my "Do Not Enter" list.
